I'm sure more than a few of you guys in the North East will have heard of this and maybe had family from 130
years ago who experienced this. As you scroll down through the article, there are a number of replies that

Great Blizzard of 1888

Grandparents (born 1880 and 1882 in SE PA) once mentioned it. Would have been nice to know some of their experiences, but it is much too late now. Maybe being far out in the country and not yet dependent on electricity and modern conveniences would have better prepared them for surviving a blizzard.

March 14 2017 here in NY. The picture with the Kenworth was the day after.

The "Blizzard of '88" in Nebraska was referred to as the "Children's Blizzard" because so many kids got trapped in school or died trying to get home.

You read some of the stories about that storm and just think if it happened TODAY! Half the little snowflakes would die. Hard to imagine 20 foot drifts in the middle of main street. People walking out of their second story Windows onto the top of the snow. Can you picture the railroad hiring hundreds of out of work men to shovel out the road bed. Today you have rotary plows that make quick work of that kind of snow. Trouble is they are all out in the Rockies. You only had man and horse power in 88. Took weeks to dig out and then everything started melting and flooding as you were shoveling. What a mess.
