just rec. a new starter from yt 53ford jub . the old one is attached straight to the terminal. the new one has a cooper type of L shape connoctor i guess to the terminal . what is it for and how do you connect the new.
 
The illustration shown in the YT parts catalog shows double nuts on a threaded stud. With no image of your Terminal, and the use
of a starter relay on Fords, You have two choices. Connect the high current terminal to the "L" conductor with a clean bolt and
washers, or call YT support for info. Jim
 
That L connector sounds like the one used on the 8N.
On the 8N the solenoid mounts on the starter and attaches to it.
That's not the case on a Jubilee and the starters are not the same.
If it is a Jubilee starter you could remove the nut and remove the L bracket.
