Left about 3 am for near Lincoln, NE.
Picked up an engine in Louisville, NE and a pedistal in Martell.
BSed for about 30 - 45 mins each stop then headed for home.
Took about a 1/2 hr snooze W of Des Moines. Brought sammiches, fruit, munchies so didn't have to stop to eat - just fuel and go to the rest room.
About 16 1/2 hours round trip.
I'm not real tired but it sure was boring and I'm glad to be home.
Both items were for tractors so not OT.

Just be glad you weren't driving a commercial vehicle. What with the pre trip, electronic logs, mandatory rest stops,DOT checks, post trip, and throw in a couple of scales and that could easily have turned into a 2 1/2 day ordeal.

When I do that I usually run in to someone the following week that tells me they run that route and would have just thrown it on their rig. "Why didn't you ask?" Because I had no idea you did that and believe I am the only one fool enough to drive all day for a tractor part. Now I know there are more of us out there.

A couple of weeks ago we did almost 1200 miles in 16 hours to beat a snow storm... 3-4 mph over the speed limit. Mostly I-90 all the way, no construction and clear roads. Stopped 5 times for gas...CRV did not like that speed :(

That's good time Eldon.
Your CRV may not have liked that speed but it sure liked the taste of gas.
My old Ranger is the same way...4.0 engine has an appetite for it. Driving across ND a couple times at 79mph was getting 15-16mpg. Slowed to 62mph another time and got 21mpg. Only added an hour to my trip.

A few years back a buddy and I drove from southern In to Fergus Fall.MN area for parts then turned back around for home. It was about 900 miles one way and took around 14 hrs. We packed a cooler so we eat on the road and only stopped for fuel and bathroom breaks.

I once drove from Jacksonville NC straight through to Tecumseh, NE in one shot, without sleep.....ONCE.....I was headed home on leave.

Yes it was down around 23-24 mpg...problem was I couldn't make 500 on a tank like I can with the Malibu at that speed and had to make 2 extra stops (Wife liked it, tho). Eco Malibu will do 36 at 84 mph. I did the same trip with the Duramax and trailer 6 weeks earlier in a little over 17 hours and thought that was good!

I was doing a run one time, forlift weights from Big rapids mi to Houston tx to Oil city to Chicago and start all over. Once I picked up some 12,000 lb weights and they had a foot of snow on them. Got down to Houston and still had about 6" Caught a mexican walking across the parking lot on a cell phone, hid in the trailer and lobbed a big snow ball up and it landed on his shoulder. He stopped dead in his tracks and looked at the snow, then took off running. Guy came out to unload truck was laughing so hard had tears running down his face. He said don't do that again you almost shut the whole factory down LOL. Did that run for a coupla weeks corporate called wanted to know the name of the second driver? no one but me they sent me home for a week my log book was still two days behind when I went back to work a week later.
