O.T. 1995 Explorer EGR

Working on my son's Explorer to replace head gaskets. Exhaust manifold fighting me. I had to cut the EGR tube from the exhaust manifold to the EGR valve to get to the last bolt holding it on. Will it cause it to run bad or throw a code if I would plug the tube at the exhaust and defeat the purpose of the EGR? Lots of corroded bolts after 23 years! Thanks in advance.

It'll run just fine, but the Check Engine light will come on and the EGR will be disabled. No real harm unless you have emissions laws.
New tube is $28 plus tax/shipping thru Rock Auto.

Like said, it will run fine but ck engine light will stay on, if anything at all you might notice a little spark knock on light accel. I would just replace the tube. Since the tube is cut, go ahead and cut it flush with the nut and put an socket with an impact on it, IIRC that nut is 1-1/16 right?

Those tubes can be stuck pretty bad, it's too late now but what usually gets them loose for me is soaking with a good penetrate oil and smacking the tube nut a few times real hard with a punch or long pry bar.

Don't know if you got what's left of the tube off the manifold, but if not, the way I'd do it would be, like 4play mentioned, soak it with penetrating oil, then start it up (assuming you have it put back together) and let it run for about 5 minutes. EGR tubes and O2s tend to come off a little easier that way.
