Bought a new carburetor and sediment bowl and tractor runs like a top. Now after about 2 days it starts loading up and backfiring. Let sit for a day and purrs like a kitten . Now loaded up and carburetor floods. Any ideas.

It may be a failing ignition system that allows mistimed spark causing the backfiring and that causes fuel to be unburned in some cases, and putting pressure into the carb in
others. If the ignition checks out, it could be particles getting trapped under the float needle letting it flood. Jim

Sounds like some trash got loose and ended up in the float valve/needle seat.

Try turning off the fuel, remove the drain plug from the bottom of the carb, open the fuel valve fully and let it flush for a few seconds.

Turn off the fuel valve, replace the plug. Sometimes that will clear whatever was in there.

If not, open up the carb, check the float to be sure it doesn't have gas in it, clean the needle/seat, be sure the level is correct.

Have you serviced/cleaned your air cleaner?
They get dirty and act as a choke or can get water
in them and freeze depending on your local climate.

Hope you bought premium points(as in not cheap)Blue streak or high grade echlin or you could be right back to square one in short order.I bought a cheap set of points once.I thought how bad can they be.In 5 hours run time they were shot.
