finally got the m-5 in the shop for its winter over, got started pulling tin work, pulled the air cleaner off the manifold, big hole in the manifold, filled with melted lead which is peeling off, (got a new manifold from stieners) hydraulic oil leaks, power steering oil leaks, bent draw bar along with bent left fender, it's a long list already and just getting started  here's some pics of todays fun!

thanks sv, I sure like it, runs and drives smooth, no end to the torque, it's really balanced nice, on my rolling hilly fields here you don't even notice it. I drove my neighbors new case 4wd pulling his round baler and I found it rough and you sure knew you where working on hilly ground, felt like it was going over, and with the 4wd front end steering seemed jerky. the old girl needs some tlc, but that's to be expected sitting for close to 20 years in the poplar trees, hydraulic hoses need replacing, service the diff, tranny and amplitorque, service the engine, a bit of body work, freshen up the paint, new decals, straighten the bent draw bar brackets. and the list go's on, will keep me out of trouble for a while

I?ve never liked the way a mfwd case turns the
Magnum bieng the worse series and I?m sure the
older ones were as bad or worse they have steering
brakes but they don?t even help . Not to big of an
issue unless you?re doing row crop work .

and that surprised me sv. his case is a 2015 model (cant remember model #) about 125 hp. with a front end loader, it felt front end heavy to me, (felt like it was way out of balance?) when you engage the pto it feels like it slams in hard? the ride was rough, steering was jerky when you came into a corner and where turning the wheel it was kicking back in your hand? for a new tractor and the money he paid I wasn't to impressed  but the cab was quite and the sterio was good

We had a 110 hp mfwd at the dairy it was a nice
tractor but it wasn?t very maneuverable it didn?t
have cab and it was the low end model

(quoted from post at 00:43:53 02/25/18) nice looking tractor!
thank you larry, I like it, it's the smoothest tractor I have ever owned, you don't even feel the pto engage, it just spools up nice and smooth no banging or jerking around. rides nice on the road just like driving an old caddy, no front end bouncing. for a big tractor with a 7 ft. long hood it's really nimble in the corners, turns like it was half that size.

(quoted from post at 04:52:19 02/25/18) Love those old MM tractors.
me too TF. and i'm looking forward to working on the old girl and getting "Miss Minne" back in tip top shape for the up coming haying season.
