Maybe some of our Wisconsin YTers will confirm. The post I saw concerning this a comment was made that State DOT enforcement was eliminated and local police and State Patrol now perform those duties. Any truth to that??? Just wondering as several of us haul tractors and implements on trailers. gobble

Yes, the diesel police (DOT) are still out there, as long as there are trucks on the road, they will be there. They seem to like Dump and Log Trucks. I drove a log truck and dump trucks for over fifty years. DOT will inspect a lot of Over The Roaders at the DOT Scales also.
Some of the Inspectors, were alright and some not so much. We had DOT Scales not far from our yard. If we left the yard with a load, we could call them and weigh it up. If to heavy, we had to go back to yard and make it legal.

This guy needs a thump on the head for sure. That's a given. But from what we can see, what's the violation? One insecure load ticket? More than one? Insecure load I think is 500.00 here in mi anyway. Just thikin out loud I guess, cause it's raining out.

Yeah, that lash-up is going to net you a stop by the first guy capable of writing tickets that sees you. But I agree with someone below- he probably makes it through often enough that he's better off paying the ticket than putting out the money for a proper hauling rig. The tie-down to the door handle is a nice touch- what could possibly go wrong? lol

And folks wonder why there are so many laws. But, as the saying goes, you can't make anything fool proof because fools are so ingenious.

Hi, many years ago I was hauling asphalt and was inspected at a scale. I was okay for weight but dot guy said I had to shovel about 1/2 ton towards the back. It was around 400?F. I just backed up and hit the brake. It flows good when hot. When you register at the plant your tare goes in the computer and the silo puts your load on automatically. Ed Will oliver BC

short picture and article in paper last night, this morning- State Journal and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Load was going to big recycle/scrap yard just outside Milwaukee, legal would have been 4 cars on truck instead of 6, maybe one dragged on tail for weight and length. Secured load violation, overweight and length for license plate class- maybe 26,000 pounds gross plate. Roll back does seem to have a second back axle(?) for extra weight. RN.

that came up on FB, was posted yesterday(2-19) by Milwaukee County Sheriff Office page...heres a cropped screen shot

I drive a triaxle for some friends now and then. One time last summer we were almost done with a job and I was trying to get them to give me a little more than usual. The truck will legally carry 24 tons, which I was asking for, but the operator called over to the quarry scale house for my tare. Well, the scale lady gave him the tare for the other truck which is an automatic, so all that I could get was 23 tons.

It's a wonder he made it that far. Eagle River is on the North end of the state (about 70 miles Southeast of me as the crow flies) whereas Milwaukee is on the South end. Most of the highways here aren't exactly smooth, at least for a truck, especially this time of year with the frost heaving.
Can't help but wonder as to how many "pieces" fell off that truck along the way.
Needless to say, that outfit didn't profit one bit this time.
Who says that rednecks only exist down South? We got plenty of 'em up here too, myself included.

Other than the hooking to the door handle where is the problem. If your car is on a tow it is hooked about the same way. As long as they are not over weight and the load is stable what is the problem? Might want another chain or 2 over the front load and something hooked to the car on the back pickup to hold the front to the back better.
