My son is considering a 1989 Belaruse tractor. He said it looks very nice and clean and has a bushog, finish mower, disc plow and boom lift for $3,500. Said he didn't notice hours.
I know nothing about these tractors and was hoping someone could share a little info.

I failed to mention it is a 400 AN supposable 65HP.
Tires are excellent.

Air cooled with 54 pto hp. 11 speeds. Independent pto. 2 hydraulic remotes. Do a google search for Belarus 400 and you can find out much info. Might be a good investment to purchase an operator's manual and see if you like how they operate. Many and even some Belarus owners don't care much for these air cooled Belarus. But to each their own I guess. One word of caution, clutch pedal is offset to the right and easy to push wrong pedal(pto clutch) look as you push for awhile. Hope this helps

Last I knew there was still one in Omer Michigan. There was a dealer in Ionia that sold the heck out of those things for a few years. To be honest,I don't personally know of one of them that's still running and being used.

Used to be a lot of them around here -- they are all in the scrap yard or being used for ditch filler. DO NOT
BUY THAT THING.

It should be avoided as the quality in these tractors is very poor and parts and service may be non existent.

We had 2 here over the years they were just fair
and awkward. It sounds like a steal of a deal but
might be misery that could have been avoided. My
best advice is if he's serious about the tractor first
find out where he can get parts and possible
service. If there are a few still running in the area
and the owners are satisfied with parts availibility
and service support than it might be ok. BUT if
there's none around and parts are 500 mi away or
overseas or discontinued than hed be better off
passing. Just being honest

I own a Belarus 420 2 WD Diesel 4 cylinder air cooled Tractor,65 HP ....purchased new in 1979:
I never babied this Tractor... It has work! It's an air cooled Engine...keep it CLEAN!
Each fall the Tractor was taken cleaned with a high pressure, hot water with detergent shop, and ENGINE was cleaned!

Now at 5000 Hrs (TTSN), the bearings in the Transmission must be replaced:
The Tractor is crude, as in nothing is finished visually like a North American Tractor!
The Tractor had to narrow of rear tires for the HP I expected the machine to deliver to the rear wheels:

This was rectified, by Machining Adaptor spools ( my late brother was a master machinist with his own shop) that attach to the rear axle studs and facilitated MF 88 Diesel rear 30" tires, Rims and center pieces to be installed as rear replacements. Filled with liquid ballast.....700 lbs + per tire......:)

The Engine has a Centrifuge OIL filter design....:)
Three point has down pressure..........:)
Engine has a decompression mechanism for starting in cold weather.......:)

All electrical wiring on back side of Dash did not last 1000 hrs....totally fell apart!
Alternator failed at 500 HRS!
Engine does not use any oil after 5000 hs (TTSN)....15-40 diesel designation oil.

Now that the transmission has problem's. I have NOT looked into parts supply. I purchased a used Belarus 400 with a failed clutch. Owners son refused to repair Tractor used for dairy farm chores. Tires were sold, however, transmission ,and engine are fine...:)

Before you purchases a Belarus 4 cylinder air cooled tractor think about getting the facts....do not go with he said she said.

I shall continue using one of my Belarus Machines and as machines appear for sail I shall purchase as spare inventory;

The Pictures are of the REAR adaptor spools for the MF 88 Diesel rear 30" tires, Rims and center pieces.

The parts Tractor requires a clutch ,tires . Purchased for $300.00.

They are a fine tractor if you don't need a tractor. They are like a mule, don't expect it
to be ready to work when you are. I know a several sitting around that are just sitting
around. Low hours and all have major problems. Scrap price is about all they will fetch in
my area

Clutch plate replaced and all is good.:)

Water had frozen in clutch compartment:

Service manual purchased off e-bay..:

The company I work for found a Belarus (no idea what model) in the weeds on a property they were working on. 4wd Cab maybe 60-75 hp. Property owner said "haul that thing outta here!" so they took it since the lowboy was there- Free tractor so why not? Owner called it a loss and figured it'd cost more to scrap it than it was worth. Needed batteries and a starter. They use it to mow around the shop. Works mostly. Knowing what they know now they'd never buy one. Crude tractor but still (mostly) working after being given up on. However they do have to do some searching and head scratching every time it breaks down/starts leaking/just plain won't start/etc. They have some very good mechanics in the shop and an excellent machining capability. Without those I wouldn't buy one. I believe if you had to sell it you'd have a hard time finding a buyer.
