To post on tractor talk. Rural King opening next Monday in NW Alabama. From the looks outside the store appears it is going to hurt TSC. Oh, forgot, TSC does stand for Tractor Supply Co.

I don't know, around here Rural King is a lot cheaper on about everything than TSC. and their quality is just as good or better. We buy a lot there, even my Key bibs

Stock looks better, more of it too. Never been to one of their stores but we have a TSC across the road. Still handy, but one of these or Runnings would have been a better choice.

One thing stands out, the concrete block, loosely stacked, on their sides, & 4x4 PT for shelving. Loaded with implements and with what appears to be no regard for the safety of customers. That stack of crap will easily kill a child, and seriously injure an adult. In '04 my mother either mis-stepped, tripped on something or who knows what caused it. She grabbed onto a 3 shelf concrete block, pine board arrangement and those blocks came down on her. They broke both her legs !

I've never been obsessed with safety protocol, but do try to use better judgment. Whom ever thought this was a good idea ought to have their head examined !

Just over a year ago Rural King opened a store here. There is a TSC about 5-10 miles north, another 5-10 miles SW and a third about the same distance south. Rural King is/was a novelty and I have bought a lot there, but I have not seen any change in traffic at any of the TSC's when I have been there. RK is a better store, I think. Much more inventory.

Supposed to have a Rural King coming to Mount Vernon,Ohio in August this year.Looking forward to it.

I wish our Rural King was closer (25 miles one way). I drive past TSC on my way to work, but seldom visit.

When I took my middle son to RK the first time, his observation was "Dad, this place makes Wal Mart look classy". He is right, ours is not their showcase store.

Same down here. What really boggles me mind is I bought a rear scraper blade at one TSC and at another TSC about 30 miles away, it was $100 or about 30% higher priced.
So unless it is on sale, I shop at RK.

And if your shopping for firearms, RK does good deals in house and online. If you buy online, shipping is $10 with no FFL transfer fee if you ship to store.

They also kick TSC butt with bulk nuts and bolts, plumbing, tires, batteries, even some groceries.

I just stopped in the one daveh(MI) was talking about yesterday for the first time. I wish I could have spent more time, they look like they're really neat...

We have several TSC stores and a Rural King in the general area I go to TSC the most since its less than 5 miles.Plus there are 4 different Coops with stores in the general area and I'm
glad for every one of them for a place to find a variety of things I need. They all seem to be doing pretty well as far as I can see.

Might as well. There are two within 25 miles of where I live. I guess they are raising crickets. Never see many people there. Never going to see me there.

TSC HONORED THE SALE PRICE OF A STORE 60 MILES AWAY, 4 ME...BE BLESSED, GRATEFUL, PREPARED...A TRACTOR MOUNTED IMPLEMENT...

RK opening here Monaca, Western Pa in March. Second store in Pa; they are much preferred over TSC around here.

Here they are using old stores that have been setting empty am their a least once a week i dont like their paint though.

Yes, T S C is no way near what it used to be for the farmer.I am about 35 miles from 3 of them in different directions and try very hard not to stop at any . Really nothing there to interest me any more. There prices mite be good but there stores are pretty messy. Try to find something with out a clerk that they are short on.
Some of the help are OK with finding things for the country home owner crowd, but try asking one about most any thing Ag.
That is not very good. clint

Randy, The founder of that enterprise in Dunnville started out with an old modified flat bed truck loaded with hand made wooden gates and peddled them through out that region. Town should be renamed Tartar City.

Same with our local RK, they took over a former Big Wheel variety store shell. That operation was driven out of business when the ginormous WM Super Center went up about 100 yards up the street. I think that may have something to do with the condition of the RK, they may be dealing with a landlord trying to recoup months of vacancy by skimping on repairs. The parking lot looked like an artillery range, paint peeling, etc.

Of course it isn't. According to the government in 1980 there were about 6.5 million people involved directly in farming. Today that's about 2.5 million. Most businesses can't lose 1/2 or more of their customer base and survive. If TSC had done what all you guys wanted and stayed the same TSC would be nothing more than a memory.
