One month since the shoulder replacement and I'm going nuts just sitting around the house, especially since the weather hasn't been bad. Done with the sling since Friday and start therapy this week. I can finally sleep in bed but my sleep schedule is all screwed up. Sorry, slow day for me too.

Mike I had minor shoulder surgery and the therapy was a killer. Heck my arm did not move that far around when I was a kid let alone now. LOL

Hi, I had rotators done on both shoulders 2 yr apart.had to stay in sling for 6 weeks each. Couldn't sleep in bed but only in lazy boy. First week was pretty painful. The therapy is painful too but they encourage you to go through those stretches. I called my therapist Mrs Mengela. Good luck on that! Ed Will Oliver BC

Yes that make things a little better. I often laugh about me getting any type of therapy. On the TV and movies they always have this beautiful woman or handsome guy doing the therapy. Lets just say I have never seen any of those kind of therapist. Of coarse they are thinking that I sure do not look like movie/TV material either. Not too many old fat, white haired guys on TV/movies. LOL

I'll understand your situation real well as I going for hernia surgery the end of March. Hope you're well on the way to complete recovery by then. Doc says he wants me to take it easy for 4-6 weeks.

Think I'll learn to play the guitar.

Hi Mike, been wondering how you are getting along? Did you have a total reverse shoulder done? I had my left done April last yr.at 76yrs.old. At that age it is easier to just sit back and do what therapist says. It is doing pretty good even though there is no rotator cuff. Can not tell to much difference. Three days a week to therapist does break up the day some. I was off work for 12 weeks, not able to drive for a while.

Keep us posted on your recovery.

I was told to have the reverse shoulder done

Been putting it off for now.

How you making out?

I'm 65

Thx,
Tom

I'm 68 and had both hip replaced by 60. The hips were a picnic compared to this, a lot more pain. But I can raise my arm higher now than before. I think it will be OK. We don't start hay till mid-June around here.

Yes, I had the reverse. I'm glad to hear yours worked out OK. I was worried I would not be able to shoot. I'm sure splitting wood is out but SIL gave me a splitter for Christmas. Three of the four on my cuff were torn and retracted, old injuries so no fixing them. I'll be doing the therapy religiously. Retired so time is not a factor.

Mike.hang in there.I had reverse shoulder done on Nov,3,got released from DR. end of Jan.No more required therapy.Back to work in shop.limited to 25 lbs to pick up.Thats OK will work smarter.Good luck with your recovery.GP PS I will soon be 84 years old.

IT's where they reverse the Ball and socket in the shoulder.

Traditional replacement don't work well with people having massive rotor cuff injuries, resulting in the lack of rotator cuff tendons for support.

Relatively new procedure.

(quoted from post at 13:13:57 02/11/18) I don't know about that, JD, there are a couple of cuties where I go.
I can just see it now, mike will have the longest rehab in history  going back to visit his 2 cuties, you have to keep an eye on those retired Lincoln guys, they are pretty crafty. good luck with the rehab mike, just don,t push it to hard you don,t want to end up back there. that sharp pain you get when your doing something you shouldn't is just your shoulder reminding you to work smarter not harder. I've been through 3 rounds of shoulder physio, no surgery yet, but I also have changed my diet quite a bit, eating a lot more immune boosting foods and greens, and a lot less processed foods. and it seems to have helped quite a bit. mike check out 2 books by dr. joel furhman, 1 is called "super immunity" and the other is called "eat to live" it has sure helped me, I haven't felt this good in 20 years.

After I had shoulder surgery the therapist had a great personality and she was, well, good to look at when I was laying there looking up at her but when she was really pulling back on the arm, looks and personality wasn’t on my mind anymore. LOL.

At least it is in bad weather it would be a lot worse if it where summertime hang in there
