Got the roller mill out

Hello all, thought I would share a few picks from using the roller mill yesterday. Old and unknown manufacturer but seems to work well.
Appears to have Babbitt bearing with oil troughs for lubrication. Ran about a ton of old barley through it and the cows liked it. Any thoughts on
the manufacturer? Appears that the old belt I had picked up but never used is not going to run many more hours, must be to dried out from
setting around, anything to treat one with to make it last?

I used an old round baler belt on mine laced together with a leather lace. I just turned mine to PTO drive no more belt.

good morning mschwartz, thanks for posting the pics, looking good. that roller mill has to be close to 100 years old and still rolling grain! that's awesome. I see you have the same problem I had with barn swallows decorating your tractor, I have a 16ft. wide leanto that I park my rv in and some farm equipment and trucks in the summer. which of course the barnswallows would crap all over, my wife brought home a large plastic owl about 16" high all painted to look like a real owl. she said put this up at the entrance to the leanto it's supposed to scare off barnswallows and other birds. I was a little sckeptical but what the hec if it'll keep them dam birds from crapping on our stuff? built a little plateform near the top of the entry, screwed the bird to it and haven't had one bird in there since:shock: if you want mschwartz I can take a pic and send it to you or put it up here on your post. ps. like the old d-6 in the background, what year? looks by the tank to be mid to late 50's

So is that what they called a burr mill? or is this something different? Just put some gun grease on the rafter above the 350. Birds will not land or roost in the grease. Cheap and easy to do. Really impressed with the 350. That looks like original paint.

Looks good and seems to work good. The Byrds must be buying your tractor as they have put a deposit on it?

A dribble of castor oil might help your belt - was always our "go to" treatment for thresher belts. Jim

I like your reply better. I can see where the birds have been perching. They can be even bigger slobs than people. They can go where ever they want. I park my truck under one little itty bitty twig under a tiny little cute tree and guess what the windshield looks like the next morning. I didnt know elliphants could perch in a tree!

Crazy weather, been one of the mildest winters I can recall. 48 degrees here at midnight with a twenty mile west wind. Been getting rain instead of snow and a lot of the ground has already settled after the frost left. I think we have only froze three or four nights since Christmas.

I am sure that the tin parts are on at least their second coat of paint. Good running old tractor but it has had its share of cobbled up electrical work over its life

I think that one is a 1953-54 9U D6. Always an ag cat with most of the standard upgrades seen around here, grader kit and turbo. This one has
a Skyline hydraulic pump mounted off the pto drive shaft, works well but not live hydraulics. I will get a few more pictures one of these days for
you.

thank you mschwartz, that would be great, spent many hours on the seat of a 9u as a youngster in the late 60's, plowing snow in the winter and stripping gravel pits in the summer for the highways dept. in the Yukon. the last summer I worked for them we got a brand new 7E powershhift, with a ripper I thought I was in heaven, it was the nicest balanced cat I ever ran, that dozer made doing cleanup and final grade work a breeze. it's on my bucket list if I win the lotto
