ford jubilee lift not staying up1953

when i start the tractor and use the lift for my plow it will come up but hear a whining noise coming from the vane pump, it will work for a while then just quits lifting a little at a time,, do you think it could be the seal in the piston or vane pump bad,, i just wanted to ask before i try to tear it apart
also tractor has been setting for 5 yrs before i got it
any help sure would be appreciated

How's the fluid look?? It could have some water in it which will cause problems. Also is the fluid level where it should be low on fluid causes odd problems.

[quot i have drained it a couple times as the fluid that was in it
when i got it was like milk so now i have the 303 hyd fluid in it

it seems like after it gets warmed up it will start dropping down
it seems like on warmer days its worse than the usual 30-40 degree weather here in the winters

I do believe I would take a real close look at the hydraulic cyl. in the trans. If it has very much water in it, there is a good possibility that it was frozen and you tried to operate it thereby causing the pump housing to crack. I don't remember if an 8N and a Jube use the same pump or not but I have a pump for an 8n if you can use it. Keith

Dave general thoughts. 1. clean her system out good and check oil put in new oil. A seal on the lift piston would do this (dropping). The pump could be damage too. But last look for a clogged up oil pickup for the pump.

keith the pump for the 8 n is in the transmission housing, the pump for the jubilee is a separate pump mounted on the back of the engine block opposite the started

thanks.. if it ever gets about the 40 mark here ill check that out but until then im going to leave it, have no garage to put it in at the moment

One of the best things you can do is buy a hyd pressure gauge and put in on the test port so you know if you are getting the correct pressure. I have one that I have set up to fit most any thing I need it to and they cost around $20

IF IT WORKS FOR AWHILE THEN YOUR PUMP IS PROBABLY OKAY. I SUSPECT ITS YOUR CYLINDER IN THE TRANNY IS EITHER DIRTY OR WORN AND WHEN IT GETS WARM IT LETS TO MUCH OIL SLIDE BY. DONT HAVE A MANUAL BUT I ALSO SUSPECT THERE IS A OIL PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE THAT COULD BE DIRTY. DONT THINK YOUR PUMP IS BAD. YOU MIGHT GO ON THE NET AND TYPE IN NAA FORD TRACTOR PARTS MANUAL . THERE ARE SOME VENDORS OUT THERE THAT YOU CAN PULL UP THERE PARTS BOOKS TO SEE DIAHGRAMS OF DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE TRACTORS. JUST GOT TO FIND THEM. THERE ALSO IS VIDEOS ON THERE ABOUT THE NAA TRACTOR OF PEOPLE WORKING ON DIFFERENT PROBLEMS.

pin ball
i found a sight or two that shows a video on how to dismantal and replace/ check for the cylinder and piston so im good there, just have to wait till this northern weather gives me a break, i dont like freezing fingers thanks on the imfo,Dave
