Here's the Clipper 29d I bought in Kansas on December 19th. I bought it in pieces. It had to be taken out a window by the previous owner. He found another cleaner, and he lost interest in putting this one back together. First pic show it at a friend's shop after unloading it. Second pic shows one of the shoes after replacing some rotten boards and the bottom tin. Third pic shows the progress we made on the frame as of today.

I have the super 29a we fixed up in the mow above the shop right now and am sure glad I have it to look at when figuring out this one.

One interesting thing we found was a board that a guy named Floyd put his name and the date. I forget the exact date, but it was built in 1947, apparently.

This is not a restoration, just a refurbishing to get it operating again. I plan on doing a fair bit more custom cleaning this year versus last year.

Good thing I really liked Legos as a kid!

Hi I spent more hours than I'd care to think about running/fixing a machine similar to that up here in Canada. About the only thing I got to say
thats good is it's some mighty fine wood/craftsman ship it's made from L.O.L. The one Here is in the seed plant I used to work at. it's still there
and was worn out 8 years ago when I left and was half way there when the guy that used to own the farm put it in like all the 245 cleaners the
indent rolls and all the legs I think the gravity table was new!. I'd bet it's cleaned millions of bushels, and still got a fair few left if the
plant don't burn down first, some days that was tempting with break downs L.O.L.

The screen brush mechanism had been rebuilt a few times, some of the big variable speed pulley shafts had the bearings cut into them, I pulled
them and welded them and ground hand filed them so the bearings fitted again. Ours was a dry weather machine, if it got damp the screens would
stick in and they were a pig to get out. It was mounted 3 ft off the ground on a stand so that didn't help much.

I remember some days in the winter, it was so cold running it the first start in the morning you had to re set the breaker 5 times as it was so
stiff to get it turning and up to speed.

The owner is away right now and I'm checking on the place for him, I should try get some pictures and info of the old girl and post them for you.
Regards Robert

I was taught how to clean Fescue with a machine that size. It
had a few holes worn it, but for a machine that old performed
very well. The upper air is nice and I wish my current machine
had it. Are you going to sell your 47? Nathan

Nathan,

Yes, I am going to list it on an online auction site. I have the 29a on right now. It sells 13 February. I won't list the 47b until I have this one ready to clean. I still have another older 29d that I'm not sure what I'm gonna do with as well. It depends on how the 29a sells, I guess. I'm getting lots of calls, so I expect it to do well.

Robert,

Pics would be great on that old machine. I would guess it's an 8 series, which would have larger screens than a 9 series 54X60 versus 42X60.

Here’s a pic of the date. Anyone know of a Floyd Fowler that worked at the Saginaw Michigan AT Ferrell plaint at the end of 1946?

For the grease cups we mixed 80/90 with gun grease to thin it. Then put in the cups will turn easier in winter and still do the job in summer. Might have to turn the cap more in summer.
