At 12 I could drive about 2 miles to the store. Not supposed to go any further than that and speed limit was about 20 mph. Sometimes I may have forgot one or two of the rules but never got in trouble back then. Good old days.

My father got a similar truck from our next door neighbor when I was about 20. The engine had been replaced with a 292 that was rebuilt for a stock car and it had a 4 speed tranny from an F-500. It was a real hot rod!

I think the year was 1956 a neighbor down the street bought a new one, just like that as I recall, but green. $1750 comes to mind. Don't remember the amenities.

Cool old truck, Larry.

Gotta love the pink flamingos too.

Being just a little bit blurry... makes the whole scene look like a painting. :)

I hate to say it but the mid fifties Ford's had the Chevies beat on style, if I had one like that now it would be my every day driver.

The fuzzy photo makes it look more like a memory. Neighbor had one. Was green. Does this sound like it has bells in the transmission when you shift into reverse? Everytime Ollie shifted that truck into reverse it would go chachang. Nothing broken it would just do it.

My dad was a Ford man. He got a new one every some years. I always liked chevs. My first Chev p/u had corner windows. My father had a 52 ford and his next was a 57 Ranchero. Ed Will Oliver BC

I was maybe 15, visiting an uncle/aunt. Uncle sends son Tony and me to the country store to pick up a case of beer, just charge it....Tony was 13-14.

Nice pic. Here is my first one from Jan. 1972 in Glasgow, Ky. pic of youngest son, age 20 month. 1953 chevy 1/2 ton that I purchased at age 21. later i drove it from Florence, Al. to Glasgow with a job transfer.

We had one on the farm when I was a kid, I think I remember dad saying it was worthless to drive in the snow. When dad and grandpa quit using it it was parked behind the barn and I used to play in it.

We had a green 56 1 ton with 6 cylinder 4 on the floor. I learned to drive with it. Traded for a new 1970 3/4 ton. 360 v8 4 speed.Man that had power. Lol. Could have used overdrive. Got it just before I got my license.

Pretty decent truck....my first one was a '48 F-1 flathead V-8 Ford that just barely ran....I ground the valves and lapped them in and replaced the rings and rod inserts and that old bugger was still running good 6 years later when my brother in law I'd sold it to 3 years back sold it. By then he had my nice '60 F-100 and I had a brand new '70. Job insurance, later I got to overhaul the '60 too.....and have had several Foo-rods since then.
