One of my daughters is positively incapable of carrying on a single conversation, especially on the phone.

More than once I've told her to call me back when she had time to talk to me and hung up.

Yep. My 2 daughters do the same thing. In those cases, texting seems like a reasonable alternative. Eliminates all that background drama.
