Just on the off chance that somebody on here knows old Dodges, I'm posting this pic for a friend who is trying to identify what model this 1928? Dodge might be. I've searched a bit on the net but can't get a real for sure answer. Need more details like what engine and whether it has 2 or 4 wheel brakes but I don't have that info yet. Anyway, heres two pics.

Looks like it could be a Fast Four Sedan.
212.3 engine.
Depending on what series it was the 128 two wheel brakes and the 129 wheel hydraulic brakes.

Just an observation, I'd imagine two wheel brakes would be on the rear only. Looking at the picture there appear to be brake drums behind the front wheels.

I don't know a thing... except that your friend has a really cool old car!!
So far he is just looking at it as it has been offered up for sale. Further info says it has a six cylinder engine, rebuilt but broke a connecting rod and the engine will need repair. Otherwise it has been restored and pretty fair shape.

That car looks in beautiful shape! I'm thinking it has
4 wheel brakes too, looks like drums in the
front, can't have fronts only or the back end would
swing around on slippery surfaces and hard
braking.

This one has 4 wheel brakes as there are front drums. NO cars had just fronts. Earlier cars had brakes
in the rear because of the difficulty in getting linkage to turn with the wheels, and as stated below,
fronts alone are very dangerous.

I think the '28 Dodge cars were maybe the first production autos to have an all-steel roof (as opposed to the fabric they used
to use). Not 100% sure but I think it was Dodge cars from about then.

Wonderful ,,..Did You Know ? The Beverly Hillbillies truck was told to be a 1926
era DODGE cutoff car andwas said to be turned into a truck ,during the 1930s..
then left sitting for a decade or 2,.. around 1962 ,the truck was a barn find
in northern california and its' authentic appearance perfectly rolled into
the show and film history ..

The Hillbillies' truck is based on a 1921 Oldsmobile Model 43-A touring car. The Model 43-A was powered by a 43-horsepower 4-cylinder engine and rode on a 115-inch wheelbase. The $1,445 touring car was considered medium priced when it was new.

I actually got a good look at the truck years ago when in was on display at the School of the Ozarks in Branson. Its actually in fairly good shape for what it is.

(quoted from post at 07:46:53 01/29/18) I thought it was an Olds?
No, the seller says Dodge. Seems like maybe a standard six. Supposed to have had a frame off restoration at some time in the past but has been sitting since the newly rebuilt motor broke a connecting rod. My friend is interested in it because it is similar to his grandfather's 28 Chrysler.

I'm sure your buddy has done his homework and knows that the antique car market from the 20's and into the 30's is on a
downhill slide for prices. OK, some stuff is still around that guys want for rodding, not sure a late 20's Dodge fits that
category and he likely isn't going to do that anyways. I'm sure he won't let sentimentality cloud his judgement when it comes
to buying the car at a reasonable price. Car looks pretty decent and I'm sure engine parts are readily available, or a
replacement engine.

Yes, I'm sure he is not looking at it as an investment that will appreciate in value. I believe the necessary parts are included to get the engine running. Used to be Chrysler flathead sixes all over the farms here in old Massey and Cockshutt combines. I guess if originality was not a concern maybe switch up to a newer slant six or 318.

Just for fun, here is what became of many old cars here in Sask. when they got nearer the end of their best years. Cut off the back of the body and make them into a truck. This is that 1928 Chrysler that I posted a little earlier. First photo was taken 1930 and this last one was 1948. The Chrysler "truck".

From what dad has said about the old dodges. I would say it probably has 4 wheel brakes with larger shoes and drums than most of the rest of the vehicles of the time. Would also probably have the Siamese 6 engine in it. Meaning the cylinders were sort of paired in the block. Also tends to blow out head gaskets between those 2 cylinder pairs. 12 34 56. Simple easy to work on engines. IF the crank is a bit out of round just shim the bearings and as long as it will turn over with a bar after each rod is done it will start and will run fine. Dad did on of his old dodges a 53 and that is all still in there since the early 70's when he did it. Used to load that tone truck with about 9500 on and go to the elevator with grain. Did it ever fall or summer for over 20 years.
