Husband is wondering what size tire chains he needs to get for 13.6-38 tractor tires... anybody know?

Thanks if you can help.

there are 2 options sweet feet, you can buy a set of chain pliers(there big 3 ft. handles) buy the side rails and cross links and build and repair your own (which is what I do) or call an equipment supplier and give them the tire size and they'll build them for you.

Don't forget there is also different kinds which will fit a little different.Check your local Craigslist there is usually some on there also bungee cords are handy to keep them on

Dave, so it looks like there may be a difference between an Ag tire and an Industrial tire. Is that correct?

If you are putting them on an ag tire for use on a farm, You need the double ring type.
I use the twist link type on my garden tractors even though they have ag tires on them and like carvel minne farmer says I Have the tire chain pliers and take 2 pair to make one pair and put the cross chains closer together. I can usually get tire chains pretty cheap at auctions

the double ring chains on Dave's chart for 13.6x38 tires shows as 7 ring wide cross chains. i would prefer (and use) chains that are 9 rings wide, as they would wrap a little farther over the tread, and also fit 15.5x38s if you needed. i think 9 ring might be easier to find used (more plentiful).

Thank you, everybody.

Passed info along to the boss.

He's always put fluid in the tires but wants to switch over to chains instead.

Anywhere I've ever seen tire chains for sale, they size them based on the tire(s) they fit.

tirechains.com would sell you "13.6x38" tire chains to fit your 13.6x38 tire, for example. Laclede Chain, the company that makes the tire chains, sizes their chains based on tire sizes.
