Went to meeting and there was a discussion
on the shortage of grass fed beef.most come
from New Zealand and Ireland. The sad thing
around this area people are tearing up old
pasture that will be nothing but rock piles
to grow corn in hopes of government
subsidies.

I think the difference is grass fed as most are not or grain fed as most are and fed out in feedlots instead of on pasture. Some people will only want grass fed thinking it is better and pay a premion for it over the grain fed that is most popular in the states.

The price of corn and beans is to low and government subsidies are also low now so the incentive to break up pastures is not nearly as high as several years ago. As for grass beef, you can have it. I grew up on it and did not what good beef tasted like until I grain fed beef.

I've sold a lot of grass fed beef and like everything it's how it's raised and processed .
Most people I've sold to will notice the difference in taste and texture one of the problem that people have raising grass fed is they go with weight instead of harvest time if an animal is mature and ready you can't get extra weight on with out making it poorer
