Dettson snowblower

I'm blowing with an 830 Case and the auger shear pin shears allot. It seems like the one plate has a hole for the bolt and the other has a slot. And the plates are an 1/8" apart. None of that seems right to me but it's a used blower and I got no paperwork. Looking for answers.Big Sal

If there's a gap between plates, that will definitely not help. If the plates can't be slid together, then try to squeeze a plate the correct thickness between to tighten things up when you tighten the bolt.

Ran one of those a lot back in the 70's. I agree that the two plates should not have a gap between them, wondering if the bushing on the free wheeling side has shifted. The original shear bolt was a carriage bolt IIRC. Watch that you get a bolt of the proper length that shears through the shank, not the threads.
