I bought a tractor 3 months ago for $1500. I sold the tire chains off of it for $350 2 days later. I sold it today for $2700. What was my rate of return??

Short term one time return. I buy a good stock and hold onto it I get a yearly check and eventually when I sell it's at a profit. So don't break yer arm patting yourself on the back. Yea you didn't do bad but now you gotta do that say 8 times out of 10, 10-12 times a year.

(quoted from post at 17:32:34 01/16/18) Would need to know any other expenses. Fuel used to haul etc.

I usually don't count the cost of going to get a tractor, I figure it is a "joy ride" :D but if you must know, about $30 in fuel. I replaced one part and two front tires, but they were off of a donor tractor that had already paid for itself.

In the mid 1970's, in Omaha, I bought a '72 Chevelle body shell for a stock car. The frame was bent, but all I wanted anyway was the sheet metal. It did have a beautiful pair of white vinyl bucket seats in it.

I bought it for $100, loaded it on a trailer, and stopped for gas on the way out of town. By the time I'd left the gas station, I'd sold the seats for $200. Not a bad day.

Well my 401k has returned $3200 since January 1st without lifting a finger... just saying

bought JD stock couple years ago for a IRA, spent $4000, worth $7500 here couple weeks ago, was surprised, stock guy said to sell it as was overpriced, so I did

HR ..... so it looks like you got some walkin' around money to spend on a tractor ..... or maybe it doesn't work that way?

How did he decide that? The whole market is overpriced right now... I bought Deere at $37 back in '09, turned out just fine. Bought some GE at the same time, that is still where it was then. Wish I would have bought just DE!

Well ours shows almost $45,000 for the year, but that was only a 10% return. Our silver was only up 10% also....and of course that could all be gone with one political snafu. I get much more satisfaction our of my tractor and equipment deals....something about being able to use an investment while waiting for the opportunity to sell.

I buy real Deere's when I find the right deal. Last year was a good year for green!

Boeing would have been a good investment this year as it is up 100%. Now we won't even get into nnalert!

Not as good as buying Bitcoins at $2575 and selling at $16,250. Did not have to spend any money on fuel. Beware, last liar always wins...............
