Ford Versatile 276 II

At work we just bought a 1990 Ford Versatile 276 II. The front(engine side) differential was out of it. It is what they call a 2 piece differential. Its the one with clutch plates in it. We also took the back(cab side) axle off to make sure the gears were ok and that the ratio was the same as the front. The rear has what is called a 1 piece differential. We ordered a differential from a salvage yard and they sent a 1 piece differential. Does anybody know if it is possible to run the same differential in front and back axles at the same time or will that cause issues. Thanks

A little more depth to the explanation. My son posted under my identity. This is an articulated utility tractor. Built in 1990. The 2 piece differential is a limited slip (positraction type). The one piece in just a standard differential. He is concerned that if will work properly without the limited slip feature where it had been originally. My opinion is that if it can be assembled, that the parts go together, it will work ok, just that there will be a little less traction in poor conditions. Correct me if I am wrong. Thanks, Roy

Roy your correct in that if the ratios are the same it will work fine. You just would not have posi traction on the one end.
