O T--Cable Identification ?

Power company replaced an accidentally downed power pole in my back yard.
Work was completed Thursday, when I wasn't home, and one cable was not remounted.
In first photo, this cable is mounted on the adjacent pole. It is the bottom cable with the long box.
Might be TV cable or Telephone.
Can anyone identify company responsible for this cable?

Hello Jiles,

Phone line. Think the job was not complete. Call the utility company, they
should know who should have done it !

Guido.

I had a pole replaced last year. The new one was relocated. Ameron owns the pole . They moved there wire and left. Called ATT and they came out and moved there wire. Called Charter and they came and moved there wire. Then I pulled the old pole myself.

They say if it aint ours,we don't touch it.

(quoted from post at 22:19:00 01/07/18) Electric co. won't touch the phone or cable lines.
Gotta wait for the appropriate company to put it back up.

I totally understand their conflicts.
Just strange that they probably touched it when they removed it!
I will call telephone company tomorrow.

what others say,..most poles are electric company owned, they'll unhook the telephone line to replace pole but won't rehook

Private ownership of poles for power, telephone and cable TV would triple the number of poles in use. It would be a real mess so poles are shared and rent is paid to the pole's owner. The pole's owner should contact the renters in situations like this but it doesn't always happen. Contacting the 'phone company will bring someone out pronto.

...welcome to our new world, where nobody cares about anything but themselves... just sayin' ;-)

Verizon has all but abandoned the copper lines in Maryland. Fiber optics are their future and I will
not be surprised to see the copper lines coming down in the near future. What will their dividend pay
when all that copper is recycled?

It is called liability. If you put it back up you own it. Phone and cable companies don't have to repair their lines, if not a hazard, on overtime/ weekends. If you don't believe me try to get your phone repaired on a weekend, like when the county "mows" down your phone box. BTDT. joe

BUT if Verizon or their contractor does NOT lay the fiber optic cable they have care for the copper ones! Watch them dance around that for a while.

I work for a large electric company and the communication lines on our poles are owned and maintained by their respective companies. The
poles may have the phone companies name on then next to the power company's pole number. You can call the phone company direct or ask
the power company who owns the line (not always easy to find the owner).

Telephone cable. The phone co is slow to attach or transfer new poles in my area. I see some that have been hanging for months or longer.
Good luck

Due to union rules!!!! the union will not let other companies touch thier jobs... otherwise the power company would do it all. And... they always transfer from the top down... and usually the phone company has rights to the lowest slot. cable just above, then power.

Is there any dangerous voltage associated with this cable?
It is laying across my yard app 250 ft. and I need it moved.
Cable company is in no hurry.
