Today they are at -36? air temperature with 100mph. winds. That is a
MINUS -94? windchill. Colder than the suface of Mars in summer. Want
to go sun bathing?

I was on Mt Washington July 4th about 30 years ago. Mid 30s and still snow in places.
If you want to take a minute and look at some record lows in upstate NY (link below) I was there 79, 80, 81 and experienced some. For a week it never got above -10

Not records but it got down to -6 air temp on the outskirts of Louisville KY today and it is -6 in Fairbanks, AK this evening. These two locations were same temperature today but Fairbanks is 3900 miles farther north. Weird weather.
 
Louisville Area Is setting records for the most days below freezing in a row ,..i dont recall exactly what i heard ,, seems like i heard 1883 as the date,.. and i have seen historical pics of the ohio river froze solid at Maukport IND,.. my pond is froze to the bottom where inormally chop ice for the cows ,. i have to water them with a hose from the house,.. all this frozen ground does make it nice for totering around any where you want to go,,.and a fella feet dont get wet and can walkin the house without trackin mud ...
 
Yup, pretty cold here. I heard that hell is even freezing over.

Jeffcat, I will thank you to observe that Mt Washington is in NH, not in VT wherever that is. I visited there a few years ago, and it being a slow day my buddy who runs the place gave my wife , daughter and grandson and I tickets for the Cog Railway up to the summit. It was 70s at the base fifties at the summit.
 
Ocean currents warm southern Alaska it is not unusual for parts of Alaska to be warmer then areas of the lower 48. I know Fairbanks is not southern just saying. People talk of climate change, nothern areas have seen a great change in loss of permafrost, glaciers, ect.
 
The town of Fryeburg, Maine not far from Mt. Washington the last 5 mornings have been 22 below or colder.
