Geez,a few weeks ago you said it was my end of the county where all this stuff was happening. 2 9mms to the chest and the guy ran away? You're growing them tough up your way.
Daily News Story

I guess I thank my lucky stars: Where I live we have to watch out for Rattle snakes, Mountain lions, bears, and foxes. People are seldom seen but most of us who live in my small town we all know each other and we all know who has what fire power and who does not. I have no guns because I can not have guns but I can have bows and arrows. Most people in the town knows that if I have a problem they will come out and help me handle it. it is nice to be in a small town most people are very nice.

Well that was a startling subject line! Had me thinking Ray was under the weather.

I'm just going to say, and I don't want to get torched for it, that this kids story does not make any sense. If he came home and there were signs of a break in, he should have turned around and called 911. Instead he enters the house, hunts up a gun, and goes Rambo. The guy he said he shot is outside. He had not taken anything so either he had just arrived and fled when they came home or he was not there to rob them or possibly not there at all. If he fled when they came home, why not keep going? Why wait behind a tree? I could go on but I think MSP needs to look at this a little harder. Curious to see how this pans out.

Well,he's 19. Ya,he went Rambo. Not a big surprise to me. That's what they do in the movies.

Now that we know he's wearing a vest, maybe somebody will be more precise next time.

Welllll, wasn't me. Not unless I grew a foot and doubled my weight. Hear there was a fat guy southbound running like heck past your place. Know anything about that?

Some things about the story doesn't make much sense, but then DailySnooze often doesn't make much sense. Doing a B&E while carrying a shotgun doesn't make much sense. Don't you need your hands to carry off the loot?

As far as the homeowner clearing the building and checking outbuildings while armed, I sure would armed as well. Seems he was concerned about property in the buildings. Don't blame him for that. Maple syrup equipment is darned expensive. And waiting for the cops to show up around here, is an exercise in futility

We were out of town shopping, yesterday, came home after dark. After chasing three deer and several rabbits out of the back yard, I was still looking for strange tire tracks in the yard, and tampered door locks. That incident was way too close.

RR not much to due with your story. Many years ago a guy broke into a house few towns from me (domestic situation) tried to get out and took 44 mag between shoulder blades. This was about time they started getting to be quite well known, situation did not end well!!!

I just can't imagine not having apiece in the car if I were a "gun enthusiast". Leaving the wife like that was not smart at all.

It all sounds more plausible though if he did something irrational like that. I think the prosecutor is more likely to ask a lot of questions if your story sounds too calculating or rehearsed.

"How many shots did you fire?".

"I don't know. I was scared. I just kept firing until he stopped coming.".

Sounds more likely than just saying "Three".

Dave, I was just thinking the same thing.

For the house to be ransacked, nothing taken, and the perp still searching the property...

He was looking for something specific.

Maybe something that should not have been there in the first place!

If that guy was still running when he got this far,he was some kind of superman that I don't wanna be messing with.

I don't know that he's got too much to worry about from the prosecutor. No body to recover for one thing.

That guy in Greenville who walked outside, called 911 then went back in and shot and killed the naked guy who'd been sleeping on his couch wasn't even charged,so if anything, this young man will probably get a medal for at least trying.

Well Randy, let me make this simpler. I'll run the story and just put a (?) everywhere it makes no sense.

They pull up and can tell the house has been broken into. So he leaves his wife alone on the driveway (?), then he enters the house unarmed (?), then, hoping that the burglar has not already found them, he heads to the guns (?). Then he searches the house and finds it empty. Rather than go out and secure the wife (?), he heads out into the backyard to check his sugar shack(?). No one calls 911 (?). He sees someone in the yard (?) holding a shotgun (?). The person does not shoot him (?) but charges at him (?) and takes two rounds in the chest (?) before running away with two rounds in the chest (?) one of which made a bad noise like maybe it hit bone gets into a SUV and drives away never to be seen again (?) with two bullets in the chest.....

Everyone sure he was cooking just syrup in that shack? Way too many holes in this story.

My uncle was a cop on Long Island when they first switched from the 357 to the 9mm. The 9mm wouldn't knock down many good sized guys, if they were wearing a vest (especially if they were hopped up on drugs)
Pete

Ya,I don't know the guy. Not saying you're wrong at all. I don't have a horse in this race. If I was to give an opinion though,it'd be "why call the cops at all" if there was no blood, but that's just me thinking.

19 year old boy married to a 20 year old girl... Not much common sense to go around, even by today's standards, so as ludicrous as it sounds and as full of holes as it is, the story is probably 100% true.

I love it when the good guys win! Everyone should have a gun. It is a proven fact that crime always goes down when everyone is armed. The highest crime rates are in places with gun control. All teachers should be required to carry a gun. All church goers should carry too. Don't be like the Jews in Germany that went meekly to the gas chambers when the Government murdered them. Nothing against Jews.

WHat???? He's got a wife and a job and a nice home, no common sense, what do you mean? Sounds pretty wise to me, why waste money seeing if college and student loans work out I'll just work. My wife and I were both 19 when we married--47+ years ago. He's more gutsy than me, I'd have called the law and waited in the car. gobble

RLP ..... normally I would stay away from debate on a reply like yours, I guess you have your own definition of what "safe" means. One thing is doesn't refer to though is death by hand guns which, if you care to read the article in the link here, shows a somewhat different line of thought. If you don't like to read, simply scroll down to the chart. If you reply to this post, I won't bother responding.
Gun death rates in more advanced nations ....
