Internet Explorer.....

Does anyone else have a problem with IE stopping working all the time in the middle of something? My desktop does it all the time. I think I'll use my laptop for a while to see if it acts the same.

I've tried Firefox. It has no problem, but it seems to consume considerably more bandwidth than IE, and that's one thing I have to watch.

I quit using IE because of freeze-up issues a couple years ago - even though I kept the browser up to date. I use Firefox or Chrome and neither of those seems to have problems.

Yep this computer does it all the time. Stops then in a minute or so starts back up. Very annoying but I have not been able to down load Fox Fire which I would prefer

Having that exact problem with IE, it freezes in the middle of a news broadcast. Sometimes screen goes blank says your browser version is not supported. Have some age on the computer. Have a Firefox option on computer may try it. Don't know if IE can be updated. Notice the android phone came with a Chrome icon but no IE.

My microsoft internet explorer does the same thing frequently. It all happened after microsoft did an update on my machine. Its been doing this for a month or two.

On my android tablet,had IE,then
switched to Samsung Internet on its own.
It worked perfectly till it changed to
Samsung & kept quitting including losing
bookmarks so went to firefox.

I wonder if they're pushing you toward using Microsoft Edge instead. I've got in the habit of using it the past year or so. I've tried Explorer a few times lately, but it seems awful slow some times.

I had to leave internet explorer a few yrs ago and firefox didn't fit me. I switched to 'google chrome' and have never looked back!

That's exactly what they are doing, slowly eliminating Internet Explorer.

It appears to me that MS is slowly forcing users to Edge.

My Windows 10 computer is less than 2 years old but the latest version of IE is becoming increasingly troublesome.

I tried Edge when I bought my computer but did not like it at all.

Microsoft's business model is eventually going to lead to their failure.

Does it do it on certain web sites or all the time?

If all the time can't help you.

But if only on certain sites then while on that site Open
Compatibility view settings under "Tools"

The site your will be highlighted in the box Hit "add"
Had to do this with several sites I visit and fixed it for me.
YMMV

I hated that Windows 10 upgrade with a grand passion. My biggest gripe now with Edge is that I can't change the homepage and every time I get on I have to look at that worthless MS news page until I can get changed over to YT.

Not all browsers handle all websites the same. If one browser doesn't work, try another.

Internet Explorer is on phase-out and will become unsupported soon. Are you sure you have upgraded to the final version of IE?

I have never found the "perfect" browser. I have Chrome and Edge both on every machine I own.

Thanks for all of the responses.

My Chrome book has Chrome on it (obviously) and I haven't quite gotten it all figured out yet, but I may try Chrome on my desktop.

open an Edge Window
On the upper right side there are 3 dots.
Click on the dots.
Last item is settings click on that.
Second item is open Microsoft Edge with.
Click for pull down list and choose New Page Tab.
that should do it!

Mine does that when I have MSN open.

When MSN is running, there is a constant stream of gibberish running down at the lower left of the screen. Sometimes I will hear little snippets of audio playing, one of their too many ads trying to load, I assume.

If I get in and back out, close the window, I'm OK. If I leave it running, open or in the background, everything freezes. Tried it on Firefox and Chrome, both come up with the "not responding" fuzzy banner.

I can leave it, sometimes it will clear up, other times I have to restart.

Any suggestions? Or, any suggestions an analog man in a digital world can understand? LOL

I tried that on my Windows 10/IE 11 computer and it appears to have helped.

Thanks, Tom.

Opened it all the way to new page tab,now what? How do I make it open to YT and not MS? The way I have it opening now,it opens to MS with YT next to it in the top bar. I've had it that way since day one,but it still opens to MS first. I have to hit the X and get rid of MS,but it takes several seconds and I still have to be exposed to that garbage that I don't care to look at.

Here's what comes up in the top bar when I open Edge. I've had it doing that since day one. I still have to hit the X and get rid of MS. I can't figure out how to make it not open MS at all or at least open with YT first,on the left,so I can just hit the X on MS without having to have it come up on my screen.

That is a very good reason to switch to Chrome. IMHO MS have been putting out a lot of crap recently...so many other good products out there.

Wow,cool,I got it. I opened it up like KW said, then just clicked the X next to MS Edge, closed everything out then got back on. It opened to YT without that other garbage. That'll brighten my day when I don't have to look at that crap first thing every morning.

Internet Explorer 11 is not very good anymore.
You need to use Firefox or Edge if you have
Windows 10.
