blocking spam

I use a purchased anti-virus program... AND set my internet "safety level" a bit toward the high end of the scale.

I get very few spam emails.

I am assuming your are talking about spam emails?

1. If you are getting to many advertisements from online vendors you have done business in the past (and recognize the email sender as legitimate) use the Unsubscribe link at the bottom.
Note: Do not click unsubscribe if you do not recognize the vendor or the web address, then the spammers will know your valid email address.

2. If it is truly spam, then send it to your junk email folder. Most email systems use the junk folder to help "learn" what is spam and will automatically block some in the future.

3. Beware of clicking on anything in a Phishing email.

Hello 88-1175,

Set your e-mail filter so that blocks 100% . When you see an e-mail that you want to see, just add it as safe. Works for me,

Guido.

I just don't buy it. Some people like it but it's way too salty for my taste. There isn't enough mayonnaise or salad dressing or beer to kill the taste of spam. Turkey spam isn't so bad though.

What email program do you use? Gmail has very good spam filters.

I use one gmail account for personal email and never give it to websites, only friends and family.

I have a second gmail account I use for businesses I need to communicate with, like the bank, insurance, credit cards, etc.

Then I have a yahoo account that I use for places I don't trust like websites that insist on having an email address for "verification", which is where most spam originates. I only time look at yahoo is when I need a specific email.

Another good option is to pay a little for the email service instead of letting them finance it through advertising. This place is less than a dollar a week; how much is your time worth?

We know what sites you visit, lol
I have been using Thunderbird as my e-mail program. It download's both, my Gmail and Bellsouth email without the Spam.
It's free do download from Mozilla.com

I use a gmail account and have for years. If you use an email program like Thunderbird or Microsoft Mail, then go into gmail via the web and mark spam as spam. It does learn what you don't want and deposits them in a spam folder. I get dozens in my spam folder everyday, barely none in my inbox. If it filters a good email you can mark it as not spam

Download and use Malwarebytes, Anti-spyware and Ccleaner. All are free downloads. Using these programs along with Microsoft Security Essentials and you will never have a problem with spam or any other bugs. If your problem is with email use Microsoft Outlook and again, you will never have a problem with spam. This is what I use and never have a problem. Of course the resident brain trust will probably disagree.

I have a yahoo account and rarely get any spam. I set the filter on my hotmail (outlook) account to exclusive which means only emails from people in my address book get through.
