Tractor brands on your family farm

I apologize if this is a repeat question from the past. I am wondering if you or your family still uses the brand(s) of tractors currently on the farm that were used in the past? For example, from my families past, my grandpa and dad had John Deere, Allis Chalmers and Ford. I remember the JD and AC tractors. My grandpa had a 1956 JD 70, 1949 Model A JD, Allis Chalmers WD, not sure of the year. My parents moved off the family dairy farm 45 years ago. Long story.....So these were the tractors I remember on the farm. As I farmed later on my own on my tiny acreage, I had an AC WD45, AC C, JD 60, Farmall M, Oliver 1850 gas, and lastly a Case 1070. I didn't have these all at one time, but over a 20 year span. The best tractor for the gas was my AC WD45, and the Case 1070 was the best diesel tractor I had. So I guess I did somewhat stay in the family brands from days gone by. What did you all use on the farm. I would like to read your stories please. Thank you.

We had AC, IHC, Deere, I had to help the neighbor who had Alzheimer's, he had a 2-8-9n fords that I quickly learned that detest. I have had AC's and Olivers.

I am in my early 50's. My earliest recollection of our tractors on the farm in the very early 1970's included: 806 Farmall (gasoline), Super M Farmall, 450 Farmall, 3010 John Deere (gasoline), and a 404 IH utility. A family friend had the local IH dealer and lost that dealership with IH about the time the 86 series would have just started coming out. That was part of the reason behind the move away from IH equipment. Another reason was the 806 needed a "zipper" on the engine. The 806 was traded for a 1955 Oliver and other changes brought us to a fleet of a 4320 Deere, a 4020 Deere and 3020 Deere (both gasoline), the 450 remained, and an H Farmall, during the latter half of the 1970's, with all of these remaining through most of the 1980's, except for the Oliver, which was traded for a 4440 Deere after 3 difficult years with the 1955. A 4630 Deere replaced the 4320 and remained on the farm for 22 years. The tractors remaining on the farm today, which were present in the 1970's only include the 3020 Deere and the H Farmall. We have a few older ones we have collected and use, which were built in the 1950's. As far as the ones used for farming, the 3020 still gets put to work, with a couple 1974 model year Deere's worked in the spring and fall, while the newest is a 1994 model.

Starting in the 1940's we have had quite an evolution. 2 cylinder deeres ,then farmall, massey harris, massey ferguson ,oliver, case, and finally back to deere for last 30 years. Still have 2 farmalls and 2 deeres as collectors from way back. For some reason I liked running the 44 massey harris and people to this day say I'm crazy.

We had a Fordson, RC Case, VAC Case, Oliver 70, Massey 44, two Allis WD's, and a D19 Allis. (Which I still have). I bought the D19, used it for a couple of years, sold it to my dad, and inherited it back when he died.

On my own, I had an 856 Farmall, still have the D19, two H Farmalls and an M Farmall.

Dad started in 47 with a 37 WC Allis. Then 44 DC Case and SC. As the farm grew he got into diesel with a 40 Cockshutt diesel followed by a 70JD diesel that wouldn't keep the flywheel tight. Then in 63 or so he bought a 400 Case diesel. Nice running tractor followed by more Case new tractors in the 70 series and 90 series and finishing with a 7110 C-IH. I started in 68 with a 64 930 Case. 1030 Case next followed by a 1170 Case and the two 4 wd tractors, 2470 and 4690. No new ones here but also another 60+ Case tractors...

My grandfather bought his C Case in 1930; I have it. He bought a used 1929 L in 1946; I have it. Dad bought a 1949 DC3; I have it' Grandad and Dad traded the L in on a 1951 LA: I don't have it but I know where it is so someday I hope to get it too.
In 1971 Dad bought a GVI Minnie which he traded off in 1973 for a 1965 930' He traded that off in 1977 for a 7000 Allis which he sold on his auction in 1986.

Grandpa started with a farmall then switched to allis then went to John Deere I?ve been John Deere all my life and will stay solid stable still John Deere dad started with an ih 1486 and went to then bought a 4850 John Deere

We had a ford jubilee, 2 dc's, and the first large tractor I remember was an 830 eh com. Later dad bought an 870 power shift, then a year or so later traded the 830 on a 730 comfort king. Bout that time an A jd with a 237 corn picker showed up, but it only lasted less than a year. In 76 the 870 was traded for a 970 with cab. Sometime in there a moline we called Fat Albert showed up, it was mostly used to run the dryer. He added an older yellow 1070 8spd later too.

My first tractor was a case 930, then a ford 8600. I also had a jd 730 diesel. Later, when those were gone I got dad's 53 dc and an 830 eh com and a 1256 ih. The 1256 only lasted a year and was replaced with a 1370.

Still have dad's dc, a 400 diesel, and a 1030.

Well I can remember dad buying a new 986 and he already a 4000 ford and a d-17. I know he had a 185 massy and a M before that. He sold the 986 because he hated the way it shifted. Not long after a 4020 came along. He raised cattle so tractors was mainly for hay and some corn. In high school I bought a 4230 Powershift then a 4520 basket case. Since then I got a 4250,4840 and 8430 to join the other deeres.Dad still has the 4020 and allis and found his M a few years back.

My grandpa, great uncle, and great grandpa had mostly IH and Oliver tractors. They did have a couple odds and ends tractors like a WC Allis, the Model 41 Silver King I have now, and a Massey Harris or 2. I dont know which Massey it was, but I do know it was a diesel, there is still a spare head for it setting in the back of the shop at my cousin's; the tractor itself has been gone for a long time. My great uncle had a 66 Oliver he bought new, my grandpa had a 70 Oliver. Then between them they had a Super M gas, and a Super MD and 2 MD's. There was always a couple of H's, of at least one was a new one my grandpa bought new, it isn't seized up, but still sets in the previous barnyard at my cousin's, but he wants too much for it for the amount of repairs it needs. There was also the "little A" that the kids used for chores, with no electrical and no provision to mount a starter, crank start only. My cousin still has one of the MD's, the A, the 2 H's, and the 66, and I have the gas Super M and the Model 41 Silver King. When my dad started off farming on his own, he had 2 John Deere A's, a John Deere G, and a 4010 D. Later on, once the A's were gone he got an IH 706 G. All the John Deere's have been gone for 30+ years, but we still use IH tractors for the farm. We use old stuff though, 26,66,74,86,88 series IH, but also have and use a lot of the letter and number series for odds and ends. Also have a lot of fleetline Oliver tractors we use for odds and ends as well as a 4600 and 5600 Ford.

Dad started out in 41 with a used CC Case and in 51 traded for a new WD. Added a F-20, traded for a M, traded for a 400, added a WD 45 and traded them both in on a new 656. Dad gave me the WD in 72, added a D-19 in 75, added 450 in 85, bought a F-20 in 2014. Still have them all. Borrow my sons 986 to run the hay processer to feed cattle. When I was 7 years old that new WD was big.

The first tractor my family owned was a Fordson and a couple of Ford model A doodle bugs.I don't remember the Fordson but do remember a pulley attached to the rear wheel of the model A for running a cut-saw. We also had a Jeep with pto etc. The tractors I remember were the following:
Oliver 88
Oliver 77
Oliver 66
Oliver S55
Oliver OC3
Farmall Cub
Allis Chalmers late model B
David Brown 990
John Deere 420
Allis Chalmers HD3

I have owned the following:
Ford 800
Yanmar 155
Ford 2610
Komatsu D21
Oliver 550- still own
Yanmar1401 still own
New Holland 3930 4WD-still own
Farmall Cub-still own
Mutsubishi BD2F- still own

First tractor on the farm was a Farmall F-12 that was purchased by my great uncle, then he had a John Deere A. When he sold the farm to my grandpa, his brother, the tractors were also sold. My grandpa, after buying the farm from his brother, then bought an RC Allis Chalmers. Grandpa and dad used that tractor for several years, clearing land, plowing a few acres, etc. When grandpa started full time dairy farming, the RC was traded in for an almost new D-14 Allis Chalmers. The D-14 is still here on the farm. Also, an 861 Ford was bought, along with a new line of hay equipment including a 3pt mower, a Nixon brand wheel rake, and a Ferguson square baler. We still have the Ford, and use it regularly, the mower is wore out, but still here, and the baler and rake are gone. Dad?s first tractor he bought on his own was an 841 Case comfort king. It was the big tractor of the neighborhood then, and along with the 841 came a 4 bottom plow, 12ft disc, and a 5600 Heston round baler. The 841 is still here, and used pretty regularly, the implements have been upgraded over the years. The last tractor grandpa bought was an Allis Chalmers 170. That tractor was actually bought by my grandma. Grandpa new he needed a bigger tractor, but couldn?t bring himself to spend the money. Grandma and dad went to the dealer and bought it. Grandpa never saw it until the day it was delivered, but it soon became his pride and joy. He used that tractor for just about everything for 3 years before passing away unexpectedly. That tractor is also still on the farm and used very regularly. My brother and I have had quite a few tractors come and go, and have several bigger and newer ones today, but those ?original 4?, the Allis D-14, Ford 861, Case 841, Allis Chalmers 170 are here to stay.

Great grandpa had an Aultman Taylor steam engine, then a Rumely. followed by a Sandusky. Then a McCormick 22-36. Grandpa bought a Deere A in 36 or 37. A brand new 41 A. Added a used 46 2n. Traded the 2n for an 8n. The 8n traded for a used MH 44 special diesel. Added a McCormick WD9. The 9 burned in a barn fire. The JD A and MH 44 were traded for an Oliver 1850. The 1850 traded for a new 1855. The 1855 traded for a used Deere 4430.
The 4430 is the only one we still have.

Dad started doing grandpa's alfalfa hay in 74. Dad bought a 47 Deere A,then added a Farmall M. Then an Allis Chalmers WD45 diesel. Then in 1978 dad started doing the planting and added a 1966 Farmall 706. In 2001 bought a 1962 Ford 4000 for post hole digger.

Dad's tractors we have the 706, AC WD45 and Ford 4000.

DAD was the only one of my immediate family that didn't farm (taught school) but did help my Mom's brother at times and I learned how to "drive" on Oliver 70, 77 and S88 as well as a Dodge grain truck. During high school and college, I worked for Dad's brother and my cousin who had some Oliver 880s, John Deere 4020/4320 and then 4430's.
JUST decided to stay with the Olivers as they fit my hobbies - Except for the John Deere compact tractor that DOES most of the work now !!!

Dad bought his first tractor in 1948 , a V Case. He traded it in 1950 on a brand new VA Case and in 1957 he bought a 35 Cockshutt Deluxe. Much later a 950 David Brown, a VAC Case , and then dad bought his last tractor in 1984 , a IH 584, brand new, and boy did he love to plough with that tractor. On my own farm I first bought a 430 Case on a neighbor?s retirement auction, then I bought a new 584 IH . Then traded it off on a new CaseIH 585 with a loader, and the 430 was traded off on a 530. I should have stopped there, lol but soon I bought a 885CaseIh with a cab, then traded the Case 530, and the 585CAseIh off on a New Ford 5640 4wd with loader, fantastic tractor. Next the CaseIh 885 has to go, it was a dog, and I bought a low hour CaseIH 5140Maxum, and later put a loader on it too, another great tractor. Along the way I bought a IH W4 , a M and a super A, as well as a VA Case, a 730 Case , a 930 Case and a 1030 Case. Traded the Ford off and the 5140 CaseIH and bought two brand new Kubota tractors with loaders in 2014 a Mx 100 and a Mx 135, turned the Mx 100 in last spring on a new M6 , because the 100 was not enough tractor

My dad's first tractor after the horses was a 1951 Ford 8n. When my family packed up and moved to WI we took it with us along with a Farmall Super A. My son had a Cockshutt 50, he took with us. After we got started farming there he bought 3 Cockshutt 30s a 40 and a 20. I bought an Oliver 1950.He still has the Cockshutts except for the 20. He still has the Ford 8N my dad bought new.The 1950 is gone too.

My Grandparents moved to this farm in 1946, big step up from 17 acres to 50, all in fruit. Horses were still the main tools. There was an International tractor here in 1950 when the barn burned down-not sure what model. That was replaced by a JD MI, then a JD 1010, both of which I grew up on. We inherited a JD 40 with loader from the neighbor who shared equipment with Grandpa, then I added a 2355N in 1998, followed by a 5500N, 2630, 5400MFWD to replace the 2630 and finally a 4430. About ten times the horsepower Grandpa used back in the late 60's to do more work than I do.

We had a Farmall Cub, Fordson Dexta, AC WD and a Ford Commander 6000. I now have Ford 9N, 8N and a Mahindra eMax 22 HST.

Dad bought his first tractor a Farmall A in 1945. Then traded the A in 1950 for a Farmall C. In 1952 traded the C on a Farmall SC. About 1953 he bought a used IH 10-20 on rubber to run the forage blower, then replaced it with a Ford 8N in 1954 and in 1956 replaced the 8N with JD 420U. In 1957 he traded Farmall SC on IH 300U and in 1962 traded 300U for B414D. In 1969 traded JD 420U for IH 434 Diesel. In 1974 traded B414D for IH 454. My brother started taking over the farm about 1980 and they traded IH 434 for IH 384 and about 1984 they bought an IH 684. In about 1992 they traded 384 for CIH 495. In about 2005 my brother bought a CIH 3230 and a few years ago he bought a used IH 474. So now he has IH 454, 474, 684, CIH 495 and 3230.

My dad operated a welding and repair shop on the farm. He would buy an old tractor, repair it , use it, then sell/ trade it for another. He owned every make at one time or another, but I don't remember any Allis's except for 2 or 3 all crop combines, then several Gleaners. He repaired restored numerous tractors after he retired, and we still have his E27N Fordson on wood. I bought his second last brand new tractor, a 2120 Deere which I still have, my brother bought the last brand new tractor he owned, a Ford 4600. I bought and sold a lot of old tractors, mostly Masseys, and still have a 44 Special . Bought a Deere 2955 brand new which I still use, just sold a 2755 that I had for almost 18 years. Still in the market, and not 'colourblind'....

When I grew up we were solid Deere, 2 A's, a B for awhile and a 630 along with all the Deere implements. That was broken up when I started farming on my own. The first tractor of my own was a 1070 Case along with a Case disk and plow. The 1070 eventually was traded for an IH.

As the years have gone by the farm has gained a few so now we have Oliver, Case, Ford, IH, and Deere. I would like to have a Minnie Mo and Allis just because, but that doesn't make me any money.

My grandfather started out with horses and a 1020 McCormick Deering. The first new tractor he could get was a WC Allis and he had all Allis untill he quit with the last one a 190 XT. Him and Dad did not get along real well and when the 190XT showed up Dad bought a new 4020. Dad already had a 70,720 and a 4010. Growing up we usually had an Allis wd,wd45,d14 or d15 around for small jobs but mostly 2510-3020-4020 Deere's for the rest. I now have about a dozen mostly 3020-4020's and a few other Deere tractors including the 4020 that Dad bought new. Tom

I like running my 44 as well.....could plow with it all day long, if I could afford the gas...if the weather is nice....if my back didn't get sore....if I didn't go deaf....if....gee, maybe I am crazy too!
Ben.

Just down the road from you, dad wore a coat of many colors. He and his brother across the pasture fence really liked Oliver stuff, but that all went to heck. It appears their dad liked IHC stuff, as those were from my dad's and uncles early days.

Dad traded the Oliver 88 off on a Ford 7700. I still have the IHC H and 300. And the 7700. I got my uncle's Super 77.

Dad got a Ford 960 at a farm sale and I got to drive it as he unloaded it and drove it up,the driveway. Gonna keep that one of course?

Between the 960 and the 7700 I liked the Ford stuff, so added the TW20, the 1720, and the 5200 over the years.

Looking for a big brother to the TW20, but other costs keep coming up, like the tiling again this year you probably saw driving by.

It seems to me, our side of hwy 15 is a lot of Red tractors, and the other side of hwy 15 is a lot of Green tractors.

(quoted from post at 19:47:03 01/02/18) Dad bought his first tractor in 1948 , a V Case. He traded it in 1950 on a brand new VA Case and in 1957 he bought a 35 Cockshutt Deluxe. Bruce, being on the Canadian prairie did you ever have any tractors with a tricycle front end? Seems like tricycle fronts were a rarity in your neck of the woods.

Dad was an Allis guy. He started with horses, then a JD L which didn't have enough power to pull a 12" plow ion our heavy black clay. Then two Allis B's which I have the last one. He bought a JD H and my brother and I were ecstatic---cultivating two rows of corn at a time. My grandfather, uncles and cousins were mostly Farmall guys(H,C,300,460,856,Super H) except for one renegade unlce who had an Oliver 66.

With 14 kids, my dad bought whatever he could afford most of the time. He started out with a new '47 JD B, then added an Allis WD after he tipped the B over a few times with the Du-Al loader. He later bought his brother's WD45 diesel and then his cousin's WD45 diesel, which were the tractors I spent most of the time on. He then bought a Massey 135 diesel w/MP that was his favorite for many years. We also had a 1650 Oliver diesel, 2 JD 720 diesels, a JD 730 diesel, JD 50 and 60. He then found a White 2-85 and bought a new Hesston 100-90 FWA when he paid off the mortgage. His last new one was a Ford 5610S.

I collect Allis Chalmers tractors and have close to 100 now. I do custom work with a few, mostly 175 diesels and a 6080 cab tractor.

Guess you could say dad wasn't much on tractors. He bought a '51 8N Ford with loader in 1952, and that was it. We had a dairy, tractor was used for scraping and spreading manure, what little tillage we did (plowing and putting in pasture), and general utility work around the place. Cows went away in '61, he sold the farm in '71 (and moved to another smaller place), and the tractor stayed around until the '80's.

Grew up with IHC Super C, B-414, 656. Then my brother and I got a Deutz 7085. I left the farm, brother now has three Internationals, three Deutzs, don't know the models. I still have Grandpa's Super C.

My father's first tractor was a 1927 Fordson followed by a 1952 8N, a 1960 MF 65 high arch gas, a 1944 MH 101 Jr. standard to replace the Fordson, a 1968 MF 165 high arch diesel with a loader. After I took over I bought a Ford 6000 diesel and sold the MH. Later I sold the 6000 and 165 and bought a 5000 diesel.

When grand dad bought the farm in 1928 for $2800.00 he had 2 teams. When my father was 10 they bought a Used F12 Farmall.
Dad thought he had the world by the tail. In 1942 they bought a new 42 B John Deere, in 1948 they bought a new Cyclone A
John Deere, with plows & disc. 1961 He picked up a used 730 Pony start diesel & a used 1946 Slant dash A John Deere ( that
we called Chuck ). Around 65 we found a good buy on a 630 wide front. We found a Model 60 John Deere at a auction for 400.00
later went to look at a Combine for sale & came home with a Wide Frt Model 60 John Deere with weights & 3 Point for 600.00.
I picked up a 58 620 with plows from a retiring farmer for 2500.00 Later they same month I bought a Oliver 60 with cultivators
that ran for 35.00 I sold it about 2 months later for 650.00. Used that $$ to buy a 530 John Deere off ebay that I restored.
Bought a Model 50 John Deere out of a fence row, cheap, & I didn't like it so I sold it. I picked up a John Deere 50 with a 2
Loads of attachments for 400.00& We have a 730 electric start Diesel that was the right price & 2750 4wd & 3255 4wd cab tractor.
As it stands right now only F12, 46 Slant dash A, Oliver 60 & the John Deere 50 are gone, they rest as still around & they all
gets Used..

We had every letter series IH made at one point are another. Each did a certain job, then Dad would decide we needed something bigger or faster to do the job. Over the years, he bought and sold those tractors seems like every couple of years. Last IH he bought was an 806 diesel. Of all those, I know the Super C, 460, ,560, Super M, 2 Hs, a 450, a 350, and Im sure theres one or two Im forgetting are still in use today. I think the 706 and 806 are used on one farm about 40 miles from me, but i cant swear thats them. Dad later bought a 4020 and 3020 John Deere, both diesels, and a year later bought a Case 1030 CK. The 4020 is on duty with my cousin, mainly just bushhogging and bailing some. The 3020 is restored and one of cousins prized possessions. The 1030 has had many owners since Dad sold it. I last saw it at auction about 10 years ago. Current (then) owner had put a new starter on it, since he burned up the old one trying to get it started. It wouldnt start at the auction, so it didnt sell.

My dad had all different kinds,,my brother still has them at the farm in NJ. I could have had one if I Wanted, but I Found my Ford 2000 and implements for 2000 dollars. My brother did all the work to fix it up ,and I Painted everything in his shop,I Wanted all my Dads tractors to stay at home. They are still there. Two banger JDS,Mf 135 and super 90,aJD LA ,A ford 3000 diesel,,plus my brother and nephew added way more to the collection for sure,,,lol

I started in 1971 with well used dc case then (2) dc case jd G jd 70 diesel Jd 720Diesel, new JD 4030Diesel, 7U Cat, TD24 IH , 340 crawler high lift . (2) JD combines. Health stopped farming. As collector tractors IH M super M several DC cases Case CC (4) C case. IH F 12 & IH 14 , IH F20 Ih F30, MM UB 3 JD Ds, Cockshut 30(2) Cockshutt 40 Diesel, Cockshutt 50 Diesel,, Allis H4 high lift..Cat 7U , (2) Whitte diesels for generator. JD E 3 hp, Not a tractor can I mention an FDSEL RANGER LOL.One of the few who regard the EDSEL as a good looking car. Growing up with father as I recall IH 15-30, unstyled JD ALLIS WD45,COCKSHUTS e4 e4 diesel JD 70d Jd 730 Diesel JD 4020, All combines JD. AS a side Joke between Tube Case and I there is a CASE D with eagle hitch of Questionable ownership.!!!!!

I'd be using every brand if I did,but to the core, yes. The first tractor on the farm was an Oliver Hart Parr 70. My uncle Donald had a Super 55,Uncle Claude had an 88 diesel and a 60. Dad had a 66 that he wouldn't get rid of,but he'd go to Archbold Ohio and buy another tractor and cultivator every spring then sell it in the fall. Over the years there was a John Deere A and B,Massey Harris 22 and Pony,International 300U,Farmall H,an F12,Case SC,Ford 8N and 9N Oliver 70,probably others that came home for a few weeks then got traded.
I bought and sold a few myself when I was in Jr High and High School. Massey Harris 101 JR,Ford 8N,Farmall H,JD B,Case SC and DC,Allis Chalmers C. Sometimes I kind of wish I'd have kept buying and selling, but I just got too busy milking cows to mess with it anymore.
But ya,I've got 10 Olivers and 2 Whites. I use the Whites and 5 or 6 of the Olivers right along every day to make a living.

As I grew up my grandpa on my dads side use mostly Farmall tractors. My uncles had Farmall, John Deere, and Fords. Are attachments where mostly horse drawn pulled with the tractors. the case bailers had a Wisconsin engine on it that operated the bailer. My grandpa had a 1933 International Harvester truck with a big flat bed. We use to haul the hay around town on it. We as kids did not care about the name of the equipment we just always where glad it ran and got the job done. Those where the days.

Grandfather farmed with a JD B and a team. In 1950 bought this 8N. kept the team and got rid of the deere. Dad had 2 fordson majors an oliver 70 and an ih 300 for a short bit. He was glad to see that thing go. At 14 I bought a JD b. At 16 sold the B and got an oliver super 88. That was in 74. 2 more 88s and a 1600 after that. Dad quit farming in 84. Still pretending I'm a farmer, but it ain't much anymore. Tractors I have now. The 8N, oliver 1800, 1550, The super 88, 2 fleetline 88s, 770, a red 550, 70, OC6, OC12, 552 forklift and an IH 260 backhoe.

When Dad came back from Korea, he started farming with an IH 300, then bought an IH 350 utility, In 1964, we had a machine shed fire that destroyed the 300, the 350 utility was saved. He then bought a 51 M and sold the 350 utility. Said over the years that he regretted doing that. In 1965, we moved to the current home place that was owned by the local IH dealer. Dad rented the ground, and we saw lots of IH tractors that the land lord provided to do the farm work. 706 gassers, an 806 gasser, a 450 propane burner, numerous 560 diesels. In 1975, the landlord died, so Dad bought his own 560 diesels, he had two of them at the time. Then he bought an 856 a 1066, then a 986, and still had the old M. In 2005, he had an retirement auction, but kept the 986 and the old M.
After Dad died, my sister bought the 986 and the old M. They are both still at the home place.

(quoted from post at 18:52:40 01/02/18) I apologize if this is a repeat question from the past. Thank you.
Kow Farmer Kurt

We had only A-C. :)

Growing up, all our stuff was rust colored. Dad had an F-20, a Regular, an 8N, and a 9N. Not sure on the 9N. It had 3fwd, and an over drive. I think there were three or four other F-20s in the grove. Old, half disassembled, ran about as good as the ones we farmed with.
He up[graded to an M when I was in high school, then had a heart attack and decided to retire. He turned 70 before I graduated. Not sure if I kept him young, or made him prematurely old.
I started out with a White 30-2. It was a nightmare. electrical system was trashed, hydraulic lift was trashed, PTO clutch was trashed. I parked it on a hill and roll started it most times, then would let it warm up, take it back to the top of the hill, shut it off, engage the PTO, and roll start it again to brush hog around the place. Found some one with stupid tattooed on his forehead to buy it. (it was misspelled.) Now I have a Challenger. Newer version of the same problems. Guess I got that tattoo as well.
