There was a long thread the other day about the Big 10 (Wisconsin & Ohio State being left out. Just wonder how you guys feel this morning. Do you think the outcome would have been any different. National champion is going to come from the SEC. If you want to play low score smash mouth football Alabama proved to Clemson that won,t work if you want to play high score run and shoot Georgia proved to Okla. that won,t work. Number four beat the number one and three beat the two. Guess we will have to wait another year to see who gets left out next year.

The committee seams to favor some conferences over others. big 10, sec, big 12, pac12,atlantic all seems to be put in the front. I don't believe that two teams from the same conference should be allowed. I don't think Alabama should be there due to losing the title game for the sec but rather the big champion should have been,. I don't know much about University of central florida but they went undefeated. they beat a sec team in there bowl game regardless of how you put it that's quite an accomplishment for a division 1a school. increasing it to 8 teams would help. But we all know money does the talking and major conferences brings in more money.start the playoffs the week after the seasons ends. To many times I have watched a ball game where one team definetly wasn't prepared to play. We all like a good played game. yes we will see next year what happens.

UCF had a straight unbeaten season, including beating Auburn in the Peach Bowl. Since Scott Frost, the coach that accomplished that, is Nebraska's new head football coach probably half the people in Nebraska will expect him to do the same here next hear.
As an NU alum, I don't know what possessed Frost to leave a secure situation at UCF and come to Nebraska's dysfunctional program.

I just wonder why the ONLY team in the country without a loss (Central Florida) wasn't even considered. They played teams every bit as good as The GREAT BAMA. Seems to me that it's all about money, not who has the most wins as it should be. Just my 2 cents worth, none of us can change it anyway LOL

Boy, it seems like we all said the same thing. Guess I should have read you other guys posts it would have saved typing. I am glad Barrett brought his win game to the bowl tho. Of course being a Buckeye I know what Ohio State and Pot have in common most years (they both get smoked in bowls)
I am NOT a football fan. With the current bowl system there never is a real national champion. It is just teams chosen by committee to play. Then they "claim" that they are national champions.
Setup a play off system. Then you would get a true national champion.
The whole college football system is rigged just to make money for the colleges. Players supposedly get a "free" education. Well at the most expensive colleges that would maybe be $200,000 for four years, most would be half that. What is the NFL minimum starting pay???? I think it is $250,000 a year. Yes I know most college players are not that good but I still think the players are being exploited. Then you add in the bowl game deal and it is just more money for the colleges.
Organized sports and education should never have been mixed. We have High school kids getting special treatment for being able to play sports. Then the "special" treatment just keep going up as they go up the ladder. Now you have NFL players doing things the average citizen would be locked up for, still playing a game. As soon as they can not play anymore then they get in trouble.

Ohio State had 2 loses including a real bad lose to also ran Iowa that's what did them in,plus they lost big time to Clemson last year in the semi final.Two SEC teams beat the
Champions of the ACC and the Big 12 so that's shows just because you're confernce champion doesn't mean you're the best in the country.

Keith In the back of my mind I cannot help but think past performance in bowl game of Ohio might have played into them not getting in the four. I really was surprised by Georgia scoring as much to stay in with Okla. Alabama over Clemson was no surprise to me.
The one extra game they will play next week (the games yesterday were bowl games that they would have had anyway) is probably about as much as they can get away with for a playoff system in football, because of the physical demands of each game (they have to rest up and heal for a week between games), and the very real possibility of a career ending injury on every play. Can you imagine a 64 team playoff like in basketball? The eventual winner would play 6 post season games, almost another half season, and it would take until March. Neither the coaches nor the players would stand for anything more than the present setup, especially since the players aren't getting paid for each extra game like the pros do. Several players bound for the NFL even skipped their bowl game, not wanting to risk an injury until they've signed their name on a pro contract. I think the present system is about as good as it's going to get.

I was happy to see the Big 10 successful in the bowls this year as opposed to the usual disappointment, nothing more. I see it as an overall improvement in the strength of the league. Any of these teams can beat any other on any given day. Three years ago OSU beat 'bama and Oregon when the "experts" said it couldn't happen. The playoff selection isn't much more than a popularity contest and fairly meaningless to me.

No 2 lose team has made the championship series so that was against Ohio State and they lost bad to a so so team,plus Oklahoma beat them in their own stadium.I'd like to see 8
teams in the playoff,the champion from the power five plus 3 at large.But that said the more teams that are included the more arguments about who should have been in,left out etc etc etc.

I agree, I really don't think Ohio State is a Champion team this year. Close maybe but taking a whipping from 2 teams leaves it as it should be. But you know, all Bucks fans do support our team. In fact my grandsons dogs name is (you guessed it ), Brutis but the facts are the facts

There will always be somebody to complain why my team did not get in.
Heck Auburn beat Alabama during the year yet Alabama went to the top 4.
That is why I like college baseball and their 2 out of 3 system.
With that said we can go back and forth just using a few games or 1 year as to who is best.
But if we look at 5 or 10 years there is no question the SEC is the power house of college football.

If Georgia wins they will be both SEC champs and national champs. They beat Auburn to be SEC champs.
Dysfunctional system? How about an egotistic administrator who stuck his nose where it didn?t belong and single handedly ruined decades of tradition and hard work. Why wouldn?t Scott want to come home and fix something that means so much to himself, a state, university, and alumni base?
I'm not critical of people living in your part of the country or you personally. In fact I have relatives living in Arkansas. What I am saying is SEC as a hole, is riddled with corruption. If you don't believe me there are plenty of news articles on the internet if you care to search. And, yes, I completely believe academics should be part of the equation when national titles are awarded. If that were the case the SEC would disappear and the Big 10 and the Pac 10 would be producing the national champions.

UCF's schedule was a lot easier than Alabama's. Maine, UConn, Temple and Austin Peay are not quite the SEC .
While I disagree with two teams from the same conference being in, it is what it is. If Division II and III (and FBS) can have a playoff, then so can Division I. The bowls are into it too deep, and too much money is involved.

Remember Gene, those are asking prices on resale ticket sites like Stub Hub, etc. where some person or company has the ticket(s) and is scalping it/them (legally I think) on line. Not sure if we ever know what they really end up selling for or if they even sell. I suspect they get expensive, but $25,000 might be stretching it a bit do you think?

The players are a joke when it comes to academics. Having been involved in the rental market for many years in a college town, I have had too much first had contact with these pro-wannabe's.
Now we have Roger Good-for-nothing determined to run the NFL into the ground. That will seal the fate for college ball. It will no longer be profitable to waste youth on gladiator entertainment. It's too bad, I used to enjoy watching until the league spat on me and fellow veterans. Have not watched a game this season, and only a couple last year.
