Ford 4000 temp gauge

Any help appreciated. Recently got a 65 Ford 4000 from the in laws been using it a lot and wanted to do some work to it. problem I have is I wanna get the temp gauge working I have looked but I can not find the temperature sender Can anyone help me to locate it. Thanks.

Gosh, I'm probably sticking my neck out here, and gonna get corrected when the real GURUS show up, but I'm gonna say that tractor has a mechanical temp gauge, and you can follow the capillary tube from the gauge to where the heat gauge "bulb" enters a coolant passage.

First of all there were actually two
different 4000s built in 1965. The last of
the old 4 cylinder 4000s and then in April
of 65 the new 3 cylinder 4000s were
introduced and that series was produced
untill the end of 1975. They are Very
different tractors. So generally we
suggest you tell us if you have the 4 or 3
cyl model.
That said, the temp sender on the 3 cyl
Fords is electric. It is located in the
very front (Front - not top or side) of
the head behind the fan.. There is a small
brass plug there that should have a male
spade clip for a wire to hook to.
Frequently, that spade clip is broken off
so you will likely need to buy a new one.
Welcome to Yesterdays Tractors by the way.
There is a very good Ford Forum here on
this site. In the future I would ask your
Ford questions there.

There were NO 4 cylinder models carrying a 65 year designation, The last 4000 4 cylinder was a 64 model. ALL the ones carrying the 4000 designation in 65 were 3 cylinder models.

The sending unit is beside the top radiator hose outlet on the front of the engine. A bit to the right and a bit lower. Should be a wire plugged into it it.

Make sure the instrument cluster has power going to the voltage stabilizer, and the cluster has a good ground. there is a 3 amp fuse that feeds the cluster and idiot lights.

i didnt have long to look at it today but think I found it. When sitting on tractor it on right hand side toward front of engine. It seems to be the sender. Has no wires coming off but it does have some plugs for wires
