Once again, I keep reading and seeing all these YT members (supposed friends, right? ) who are once again nearly at each others' throats, this time over healthcare....as talk of politics isn't allowed. Well, the same EXACT results come from this topic as well. Why is this allowed? Because we ALL get older, and we ALL need healthcare services at some point in time.

I lived in Finland some 25 years ago and, while there, experienced my first-ever hemorrhoid. Went in and saw a doctor right away (...wouldn't you know, a young lady doc! ) and the best and ONLY thing the entire nation of Finland could offer at that time was Preparation H suppositories. Guy I was working with had a toothache, and I happened to have some Tylenol extended release. Not extra strength, but extended release! He said they couldn't even get anything like that with a prescription there! Now, I have serious doubts about his statement, as he only had a headache, and not even an immobilizing one at that. I'm fairly certain they had stronger things meant for greater pain. However, they were also big there on allowing the body to heal itself....over the normal required healing time. Take a look at a common US advertising and how they often state (or did in the past, as with Neosporin) how much quicker someone heals over not using their product and healing naturally. Yes, I agree, it is better to keep unnecessary germs out of cuts and scrapes, and therefore Neosporin and other such products work amazingly well. However, when you go to the doctor's office and they use a single-use application of a Neosporin-type product on you, HOW MUCH DOES IT COST??? How much for ONE pair of surgical gloves, much less 3 dozen?? How much for gowns that can be laundered and sterilized? For the prices they charge, they could go out and buy enough scrubs for a month from just one surgery!! IT'S INSANE! ([i:edd417d581][b:edd417d581]added later: [/b:edd417d581]On this same note, look at many so-called cold & flu remedies and how they say it takes X-number of days or weeks to work. Wait, isn't that how long it would take normally without any meds?? In other words, just how much "healthcare" are we being fed that we don't even need??[/i:edd417d581])

Folks, it doesn't matter what side of the fence you stand on. I happen to be conservative. However, BOTH SIDES ARE SICK, AND SO ARE OUR HEALTHCARE AND INSURANCE SYSTEMS!!! Too many lawsuits. Too many hands in the pockets. Too much jockeying around highest prices for maximum return. HEALTHCARE IS A BUSINESS, AND ONE THAT MAKES DARN GOOD MONEY!! But things are to where..........remember some years back the gov't was paying several hundred for a hammer? What was that about a toilet seat?? Gee, look at what NASA is doing now and how much lower in cost with better ideas and higher expected reliability and accuracy.

As for when we hurt, we want it to stop. NOW!! So, the pharmaceuticals have made big business on trying to make that happen with drugs. And, many doctors get paybacks for prescribing certain drugs over others. Now, insurance companies are doing the same thing! ...Remember the first-ever hemorrhoid I had? Told Mom about it over the phone and she went to her doctor, who wrote out a prescription for a medication. She sent it to me. Worked almost instantly!! Was called Proctofoam HC. Can't get it anymore. Why? Because the Save-The-Earth idjits fought so hard against the ozone sumpin-or-udder stuff it had in it. ....Think about it for a minute -- think about how TINY these little things were and how long they lasted and how little ozone-depleting stuff was in them. And just overnight, lawsuits against the manufacturer forced them to stop making a truly miraculous product. Now people can't heal instantly from hemorrhoids, so now they gripe and complain and sue. IT'S A NEVER-ENDING CYCLE!! My God, people, use your heads! Take a deep breath, come back from the edge of insanity for a moment and REALLY take a look around! Our healthcare system is sick in SO MANY WAYS that it's going to require NOT ONE, but SEVERAL major overhauls to get it fixed! Why several? Because we don't learn very fast -- it's gonna take several tries before enough people learn to keep the idjits out of the process!! Who are the idjits? Simple -- the ones that want to build a fortune from the process, or secure their own future (a bit better than average  ), or people that just don't like other people, or don't like Americans, or don't like the current administration (like THAT should have anything to do with my hemorrhoids!!), or......well, too dang many to list!

Tell me (please!), how long will it take before the people in this country stop fighting each other and start trying to work together? Nothing....and I mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING can happen until the fighting stops! Nothing can happen while we continue to close our eyes to the problems at hand. Nothing will happen so long as we continue to allow folks to over-complicate things; oh, we're running out of Social Security benefits; oh, we can't get care from the VA; oh, what about all the welfare folks? I admit, those are valid things, but first things first. And first thing we need to do is get off the throats of those around us and start thinking and working together. Communication is the key! Without it, we will most certainly end up like all past "great civilizations"....you know, the ones we read about in history books. No, wait...people don't read anymore; they watch videos and watch TV; see what Hollywood is doing now.

Yep, it's more than just our healthcare system that is sick.

Just to avoid everybody having to wade through all of it to see my last reply to my good friend Jon,I'll copy and paste the bulk of it here. I like Jon a lot. He's sat right here at my kitchen table drinking coffee and eating apple pie. I hope he has his tongue as far in his cheek and has as much fun writing comebacks as I do. I'm not mad at him. We're still OK as far as I know. Right Jon? LOL

"I'm done with this discussion because I don't want to start sounding like an unpatriotic socialist, but we have some serious problems in this country that aren't ever going to be solved by wrapping ourselves in the flag and beating each other to death with the flag pole.
Everywhere else in our personal lives,if we're doing something that's not working and we look over the fence and see that the neighbor is doing something right and thriving from it,we have the good sense to recognize that maybe we need to pay a little more attention to how they're doing it. Throw politics in to it though and all of a sudden,it's just not the "American way"."

No offense taken, and hopefully none given. I a discussion of the merrits of 2 different system is never bad. You and I disagree on several topics but that doesn't change us being friends. My best friend who passed away not long ago used to argue politics with me for hours on end. It never stopped us being friends.

Most of what you wrote is bollocks, but I don?t have the energy to wade through and refute all of it. Take a break from monitoring
your perimeter cameras and hit google, where you will find all of the Proctofoam you can use.

Ya,my first wife's grand dad was an FDR (D). I made him so mad one Sunday that he walked right out of his own house. The next Sunday we were laughing about it and best of friends again. I sure miss that old guy. LOL

The product from back then is NO LONGER AVAILABLE in the USA. They have different products, but not the same.

Seems there is still a similar product available in Europe and Canada, but don't know if it's the same. This was an aerosol that you used to fill a small applicator, then applicator was used to get the medication to where the problem was. Not the "topical" types they have today.

Another awesome OTC that isn't even made anymore is Tylenol Allergy Sinus. I see where they have come out with something similar, but it's not the same. How do I know? Because the druggies who would use it to make illegal drugs had it and similar products all pulled from the shelves. Went from being cheap and widely available to being non-existent....like many other products that were cheap and worked really well! It's not "just" greed and politics that does this, but abuse/misuse as well.

kcm ....... if you want to guarantee that a lot of us will not bother reading your post or replies:

1) Use a lot of upper case (read YELLING) words ...... nobody wants to "listen to" somebody going on a rant and yelling and
screaming. If you're not sure what this all means, Google a topic like "keyboarding manners" and you'll quickly find out.

2) Make the post about ten times longer than it has to be to get your message across to the reader.

You did a perfect job at both I might add ....... Crazy Horse

Forgive me Crazy Horse; do not intend to "yell". Is simply easier to emphasize words with caps than to highlight and then click [i:a4fd65128c]italics[/i:a4fd65128c] or [b:a4fd65128c]bold[/b:a4fd65128c], or change the color.

Yes, long post. Sorry. Had a lot of ground to cover.

Also, there "are" some people who use nothing but caps. Since it doesn't hurt anyone's ears, seems like folks would have understood it's just a means of emphasis. However, I will try to curb the caps to keep the peace.

YT has become a place for folks to dump their incoherent rants. You speak of "idjits" but post this bizzare rant on the tractor talk section. Just googled "Proctofoam HC" and it is still out there with the foam and inserter you are wanting. The "the Save-The-Earth idjits fought so hard against the ozone sumpin-or-udder stuff it had in it." apparently need to work harder since it is still in the USA market.

"And just overnight, lawsuits against the manufacturer forced them to stop making a truly miraculous product" --- well you would be correct except the product is still made so where are you getting your lawsuit information from?

Sounds like your mother commited fraud along with her doctor, prescribing medicine through a third party is illegal.

YT is being overtaken by the ranters but if you are going to rant please, at least, get your information correct.

No, they didn't. If you don't believe me, look here: https://www.drugs.com/pro/proctofoam-hc.html. Same product, same applicator, no change.

Hey Jon,you ever get the feeling you and I are walking along poking at each other and having a few good laughs while a whole bunch of fights are breaking out behind us. ROFLMAO

Your comment on the effectiveness of some products on the market reminded me of an episode on Beverly Hillbillies where Jethro is talking about how Granny's secret recipe of curing colds could cure a cold in only 14 days, where without her recipe it would take a whole two weeks!

Many of the medications that contain Pseudoephedrine are still available. They weren't pulled from the shelves. Just moved to a different shelf. They are kept behind the pharmacy counter (where prescriptions are filled), and you have to ask for them, and sign for them. You don't need a prescription. I buy a box of Sudafed for allergy and sinus problems all the time. The one they sell on the regular shelf (the new replacement one) doesn't work for me, but the one with Pseudoephedrine does. I just have to ask for it.

Next time you are at the drug store, ask the guy behind the pharmacy counter, he may have just what you want.

r.r.lund few times I have heard such a sensible reply lately, seems like we would rather keep shooting ourselves in the foot because we have taken a stand and cannot retreat from it rather than try something new.

That was my first thought exactly. "Take this twice a day, drink plenty of fluids, get plenty of rest and in a week to ten days your cold will be gone.". LOL

I've said for a long time, health care is a train wreck that is
going to happen. It just can't keep going the way it is. I don't
pretend to know the answer, but I know it can't keep going.

Everyone I know somehow thinks their healthcare should be paid for but they do not think they should pay for the other guys. There is no answer, at least not one that will please everyone. People that have good insurance say Canada's is not good enough. People without any or that pay a high premium think it is plenty good. The current administration seems to have all the answers, they just cannot tell us, must be a secret.

I believe it is insurance that ruined health care! Think about it, when you paid the Dr with chickens, it was negotiable. When insurance pays, as long as it pays the patient does not care what it costs, and the provider charges as much as insurance will pay! It's a never ending cycle.

A guy who used to manage the elevator here was telling about when he and his brother had pneumonia as kids. He said the doctor would come out every few days and check on them. Their dad told them one day that he wished they'd hurry up and get better because every time the doctor came out it cost him a fat hog.

My brother shut his hand in the car door in town one time too. The doctor's office with right down the street,so my mother took him in and had the doc take a look at it. He charged her a dollar. She said "A doller?!". He said "I like to eat a pork chop once in a while too you know!".

I thought this was a tractor forum how did it go from some rant about health care to comparing
America to pre WW II Germany?

You can run on and on about healthcare but a few facts remain.
First, the "fighting" is because of the folks involved, several have different ideas about HOW to go about "fixing" it. As we have been told over the years, there is more than one way to skin a cat.

Second, health care is a business. A big business. They are there to make money. Many of them could not care less about your health or well being. Just make money.

Third, health care is costly. Somebody has to pay for it. Whether through taxes, insurance premiums, or fee for service, somebody has to pay the bill. Shifting it from one pater to another is not a solution. It is only a temporary patch.

So, the debate continues.
Personally, my main objection to "socialized" medicine is that the government is not well known for operating efficiently. I do not need several levels of bureaucrats having to make decisions on my health care needs.

Of course the USA of today is not like Germany in the 1930's. And we don't want it to be. We want to nip it in the bud, so to speak. That is exactly why we have a special counsel investigating allegations of improper behavior today

I'll only add this to the conversation. I've got a buddy that works maintenance at one of the area hospital 'chains'. He brings me all the rags I can use in the way of sheets, bedspreads, hospital gowns, scrubs, etc. About the only things he doesn't get are towels and wash cloths.

Basically what happens is that anytime something has even the slightest stain on it, they throw it away. I've seen sheets with nothing more than what appears to be a slight finger print on a corner, and other things with similar stains, all get thrown away. It's bad enough he said it's typically at least pickup load nearly ever week, from each facility.

That being the case, the cost of replacing linens alone would be astronomical, so the cost for a stay is not surprising.

Gosh, kcm, I am sure sorry that Super M won't start in this cool weather. Maybe go to tractor dealer and get some kind of miracle drug, pour it in the gas tank, and hit the starter kind of hard and I am betting that ol' Super M will fire right up!!!

UAFitter (and others), I apologize. Seems Proctofoam HC is available again. Did find a place that warned of "drug shortages and backorders) as well as several that said it simply wasn't available, but my local doc and local pharmacy were the ones told me it had been removed from use. This was nearly 10 years ago, so maybe was off the market for a while? Don't know.

As for the Tylenol Allergy Sinus, that product DID disappear into the history books. Yes, that particular ingredient is still around, but that product isn't. First it went from being widely available, to having to ask behind the counter, to having to sign a form, to being limited to no more than (2) boxes per X-amount of time, then one, to none. Even contacted Tylenol and they confirmed it was no more.

It's a 460 (gas); not a Super M. Haven't even tried starting it up as there's some work I need to do first. As for the claims of that product, I'm not alone. Look up reviews for it and there are many out there that say the same things. It never did make sense to me to have a product pulled that worked so well. Was quite a few years ago, so maybe they said it in jest at the time?

To get along good on this site, you need somewhat of a thick skin. I am afraid to pick on people too much because they sometimes take me serious when I'm not. Even locally, I like to pick on people and the ones without a sense of humor usually don't like me. The thin skinned ones are a lot of fun. I have a cousin who dont speak to me. He and I both have IH and John Deere tractors. I kid him about my brand being better than his and he goes off. He has a 966 that he is real proud of and he likes to brag that his 966 will out pull my 766 like it ain't there. He don't know I have a DT414 in mine. We have identical discs and when we are in adjoining fields my 766 will keep up with his 1066 and he can't figure it out.

Ya,it doesn't take long to find out where the thin skin is on here. I try my darndest to just ignore some people's posts entirely because it doesn't matter what you say to them, they'll get all defensive.

My skin ain't exactly rawhide, but I shorly don't like upsettin' other folks. That said, I "trusted" what I was told years ago about "The Product" no longer being made and why. ...Trust me, if I had ANY idea it was still around..........well, I wouldn't have been quite the pain in the butt all these years! *lol*

When I joke around, I try to make it obvious - lots of *lol* or from using the Emoticons show to the left of the reply window (in Modern View). Don't know if the emoticons even show up in Classic view.

For anyone I offended, I "do" honestly apologize. ....If that's not good enough, I hear Proctofoam HC is still on the market. It may do wonders for ya'! ROFL

Or see if you can find a druggie to turn some meth back into pseudophed. Looking at the papers, it's easier to get the meth than useful cold meds.
