6C31C is your date code: March 31, 1966, afternoon shift.

The B prefix on the serial number indicates that it was built in Basildon, UK.

The D66 looks like an incomplete model code? D would be a Ford 4000 code. Was it pieced together? I would have expected headlights inside the grill on a European tractor, but that has the US-style headlights.

I would agree with you on the headlights. That is one reason I am having so much trouble and the incomplete numbers

I also have another tractor that has the European headlights in the grill. Its numbers are
5F290
S06125C S or 5 cant make it out
A111-0 84

"D" is for 4000 series, but '65 up 4000 did not use a two arm steering box, and that style (lower section did not wrap around edges) grille was April 1968 and up. 3000 series would have dry shoe type brakes at outboard end of rear axle. 4000 series used wet disc brakes at inboard end of axle housing. Could be a Franken Tractor, or might have used 3000 instead of 3600 decals when repainted, as Basildon 3600 used external headlights. Date code would be '76 and be correct for a 3600.
