Zero or a bit below here in central Iowa. You can tell its that time of year because every vehicle sitting outside has a drop cord running to it. Even plugged in two trucks still gelled this morning. Third started but no power.

In in southern NJ it is 20s as the high for the whole week. At least we got 35 more seconds of daylite today. The chart is damn funny!

Laughing at 2002sliverado post, 13 BELOW up here in sunny North Dakota, most people I have met today, said well its cold but the roads are clear! LOVE IT!
HaHa, and our population is going down! Perfect!

I had a person from California try to tell me they had been out in thirty below weather -- I said that is not likely and they insisted that it had been below 30f DUH!!! I am from southern Manitoba and the temp is going to -29f tonight with a wind chill of -49f. No bugs here either --- this is why we don't have termites

(quoted from post at 13:40:26 12/26/17) Raining and 47 down here in La.Don't envy you guys up north! Be careful up there

Gotta tell ya, I'd much rather it be raining and 47F than raining and the current -18F!!

...Does anyone know if there has ever been an instance when there was rain with lower than -15F temps??

Diesels are starting and running fine here in Sask. at -20F degrees. I don't spend much time out in that cold if I can avoid it but the cows do need their hay.

Was 53.2 here today and sunny.

Darn near! I parked the truck facing south while we were at breakfast and it was plenty warm in the cab an hour and a half later! :)

I thought you guys with diesel pickups never shut them off especially in front of convenience stores, gas stations, post offices, take out restaurants, smoke shops, etc

If you are looking to get rid of a truck, or any other vehicle. that is a good way to make it happen. Just not likely to be any insurance coverage.

I must be getting old. It was zero out this AM and I could feel it on my face after a few minutes. They were saying frostbite in 30 minutes and I was feeling it at about 5 or 10 minutes. Its cool out, but not cold yet. Although I took one of my pickups to a drive through car wash a couple of days ago so it would be clean to drive for Christmas visits. Then the temperatures dropped. That was a mistake. So long as they thaw enough by Friday when I need to drive it. Pumped full of graphite, silicon something or other lubricant, and some other sort of thaw stuff. If not freed up tomorrow, I'll use a heat gun and then retreat with plenty of graphite. Has to be thawed and unlocked by Friday. Zero out again now.

Is a daily thing up here, even in the summertime. Doesn't matter -- truck, car; gas, diesel. So many folks keep the engines running at the pumps. One idiot pulled in behind me one day while I was filling up. Pulled right up to the pump behind, as though gonna get gas. He goes inside, I presume to prepay (we don't have to prepay up here.....YET!) anyway, he comes back out a few minutes later with a soda and some food, gets in the car and drives off. Funny thing was, there was only one other vehicle there at the time, and plenty of parking space right by each door!! Some people just shouldn't.......well, THEY JUST SHOULDN'T!

Enjoyed visiting your city both times I was there. First time I was a kid with my sis, don't remember it so well - I do recall they were between patterns so it was not in its glory, tattered old on one side and drawn patterns with no corn on the other side.

other time I was picking up a farm part from Mitchell area CL ad, wife and I stopped in and looked around a bit, neat farm type attraction.

Being in south central MN, we just won't even discuss the weather, I'll think warm thoughts of the cOrn Palace in summertime.....

I grew up on Buffalo Ridge. Several years back, I was home for the Holidays. Mom had saved a copy of the Volunteer. It had some fun facts about Minnesota. One was that the State had had snow in every month except July. After reading that, I handed it to my eldest nephew who btw is my age. We both sat and laughed. When we were about six or so, mom woke us up on the 4th of July morning by pelting us with snow balls. We went out and had a snowball fight, bare foot, in shorts. there was accumulation on anything elevated. Town, three miles away got nothing, just a narrow band.
Be safe up there.

We have had slightly milder winters for the past ten years or so here in northwest Iowa. We might be making up for it now! One winter we had a two week spell of below zero temps, -5 to -10 for highs and -20 or below for lows. When the temp finally warmed up to zero it felt fairly warm. I don’t feel like repeating it this year.

It was a balmy -3 below zero this
morning. South East Wisconsin
And a nice breeze that goes right
through your clothing, Oh yea
we are close to Lake Michigan,
so it?s always a little warmer near
the lake

I was -2' this morning but many places here in Vermont were -20' to -30' below this morning. It will be MUCH colder the next two night with high wind chill. Very sad for some.
