We had at least 12 kids & and grandkids (6 months old - 17 years old) overnight from Saturday thru Monday, gets pretty kayotic at times, know being over 65 years old doesn?t help but sure do miss not being able to even communicate with each other, kids don?t talk they yell?????
Well have one of the grand daughters (age 8 yrs old) staying over for couple weeks so am kind of confined inside ?babysitting? as grandma is at work!!!! Of course we have the ?cartoon channel? on, cant believe what they call ?cartoons? anymore, all they do is yell at each other, some are actually sadistic, constantly some form of warfare, or conflict and violence as bad as regular!!!! Must be part of this ?real tv?!!!!!

Avoid the main networks. There are educational channels with stuff that's not quite so bad.

But best would be to turn the boob tube off and take her outside or into the shop for some quality time with Grandpa

Ever seen Southpark?

It's intended for adults, but kids don't know, it's cartoons to them.

Pure filth! How it gets by FCC rules is a mystery!

Yep, it's a real shame kids today don't have the Three Stooges as role models like we did.

Maybe I?m wrong but seemed to me there some ?real life values? learned in th old shows like me Lasse, Fury, Sky King, Rin Tin Tin, and yes even the old westerns last like Roy Rogers, Long Ranger seemed to explain the virtuals of right & wrong!!!!!

Kids sure are loud these days, my nieces seem to think they need heard a mile away. If I was that loud when I was a kid I would be having a tanned hide.

Different characters, but the same stories as when we were growing up. Tom & Jerry are pretty violent too, we just considered that normal back in our day. Johnny Quest, Mighty Mouse, Heckle & Jeckel, Pixy & Dixie, Road Runner & Wiley Coyote, Quick Draw McDraw, Buggs Bunny, etc, all had a lot of slap-stik antics as they beat up on each other or some other "bad guys".

My daughter is 36. Long story, but when she turned 18 she went out on her own and later rejoined the family. She wasn't a bad girl, just very independent. Anyway, her grandparents aged and passed while she was "gone". She is now a lovely lady doing pretty neat veterinary stuff. My lady friend is younger and her Dad came with her for Christmas and inspite of mobility issues he is still sharp. She commented this morning how she never got to know her grandparents as an adult and enjoyed talking with Al. Hopefully you will get to have some grandkids get to know you as adults. Best to you all. jy

I grew up with 40s Bugs Bunny cartoons. Even used to see some 1920s reruns of "Farmer Alfalfa." Today? My youngest kid has been watching SpongeBob SquarePants for years. He is 14 now and still loves it. I was against it until I actually watched it. I am amazed at how creative it is - and NOT lewd or racey. Kind of a surprise in today's world.

I have a lot of Little Rascals and Three Stooges tapes, some on vid. Amazing how the GK like to watch them. For longer times, I have the Ma and Pa Kettle movies.

We were watching some Ma & Pa just a couple days ago. I think we got 3 movies into the set.

Can only handle so much Pa though.

I agree about Sponge Bob Square Pants. It illustrates perseverance, a strong work ethic, selflessness, and loyalty to friends, all the while being wholesome enough that anyone can watch without becoming embarrassed or perverted.
