A Christmas story

Not yet this year. Still have a few chances yet today.

I remember when that movie came out. I went to an auction and the wife took the kids to see it at a matinee. When I got home she said "That's not a movie for little kids". lol

It?s one of my favorite Christmas movies I don?t think little kids would get much out of it though

From 8PM last night to 8Pm tonight. TBS channel 36 on my cable. Reading your post I flipped it on. "This is a secret message from Annie herself!" ...... Be sure to drink your your Ovalteen. A crummy commercial?!!!! Son of a B***** !!! I love it when his old man burys the lamp out back of the garage that night and he could hear Taps being played. Gently. Had the honnor to see him live several times at the Clinton, NJ open air theater. Last time was 1986. Randy,,how do the piggies go? YES your tounge WILL stick. Another little tid bit. The toy boxes in the store window , They were on loan from a very promenent toy collection and were all Originals. They took them to a printer to have exact dupes made for the movie and also as souvenirs. Guess what the print shop did. They threw out the originals!!!!!!

"A crummy commercial?!!!! Son of a B***** !!!"

I sat through one of those videos one time that they advertise on TV as some important message that everybody has to see to prepare themselves for their financial future. That was exactly the line I thought of an hour later, when at the end,it was just an hour long ad for some newsletter that they wanted you to pay for.

I just love the time frame the movie was set in the store window scene is one of my favorites seeing all those old toys that?s interesting about the toy boxes I bet somebody was extremely p.od about that I bet some were irreplaceable

I?ve been trying to find it for the last three weeks doing a channel search every night finally gave up then last night I was just flipping through and found it

We had our 6 year old daughter watch it with us the other night and gave her a Red Ryder this morning. She liked both the movie and the gun. We watch this movie and Christmas Vacation every year.

We actually have it on DVD, but I haven't watched it yet this year.
Just saw on the news a few days ago that the actor who plays the red-headed bully kid only gets $1,800 every two years for royalty money.

Jean Shepherd had a radio show on WOR 710 out of NYC. All of these little stories he used to tell on his radio show. The fun thing is you became a SHEP fan after awhile. When I went to see the movie there were maybe 35 or 40 people. As the movie starts, ☆deck the halls with bows of holley☆, you could hear about 15 people snickering including me. Fellow Shep Fans!! This is the only movie I have ever gone to that I knew EVERY single second of the movie start to finish before it even started! If you want you can pick up MP 3 DVD Format disks of a boat load of his shows check Ebay. Sometimes he would ramble and play his Kazoo but his show was always fun. By the way. If you really like darn good story telling. Go on the net at look up CBC As it happens. Every Christmas eve they have the story "The Shephard". You can download a pod cast of it. Super creapy story and really scares the daylites out of you. Talk about an Ohh ..... moment. Make sure it is dark outside, turn off the lights, you are the only one home, strap on your flight suit, and get ready for take off. Get ready for your mind to explode. I listen every year and every year all of the hair is standing up! Please listen!

YES ! It works. Enjoy this story. Wear a pair of good headphones if you have them. Makes it even more intense.

That sounds like a neat story I?ll have to look it up . I got satellite radio several years ago mostly because I couldn?t stand the radio and the new crap music they play and the mainstream news media anyway there?s a channel called radio classics and it plays all kinds of old radio shows like gun smoke George burns dragnet and a bunch more

Remember hearing him on the amateur bands years ago, still think I have a QSL card here from him, in one of the piles, a pretty talented guy, didn?t know who he was at the time, we didn?t have QRZ.com then, just the old call book.

Not a bad movie, tried to get the kids to watch it today, most of it is lost on the younger generations, the house in Cleveland is open for tours last I herd, with all the trips I made past there I never had a chance to stop, maybe some day.

Oh the good old days, I still love the old tube radios, and the wife can?t understand my boxes and boxes of tubes.

Sidenote; Gene had a little cabin near a creek down the road from my old house in Washington TWP NJ. The place feel in disarray, Holes in the roof, a lot of water damage. Raccoons took over the place. I do remember seeing a lot of boxes of old tapes there.
