My flip phone laid down on me about 7 month ago so my son get me a I-phone or sorts. This thing is heavy, unbreakable and waterproof. Had it in the bib of my overalls and leaned over something and something snap. Pulled the ballpoint pen out of my pocket thinking I broke it. No, but today went to take a picture and it was blurry. Got to looking and the camera lens is broken. It hits right where the snap is on my bibs.

It happens, I broke my home button the other day. No idea how. Even with a fancy case on it. Your subject line sounds like what we say about a guy at work, ?he?d screw up a marshmallow?. Something like that or a little stronger.

I know what you are saying I had a GPS in my pocket ice fishing a couple years ago and from a height of 3 foot fell out of my pocket and hit the 6 inch hole dead center. The worse part was the loss all my locations that was on it

I refuse to get a "smart" phone as I carry mine in my shirt/bib pocket. I too often lean over something and pull hard. I break pens, glasses, and even cracked the case on a military grade flip phone. The screen on a smart phone would not last a week.

My son's usually do not get two months out of smart phones. Even with the fancy cases and such. They pay more for replacement phones than I do for my coverage.

I used to think like that... but I wouldn't be without my smart phone now. It goes in grain bins, silos, under tractors, etc. The flashlight is a handy tool! As is being able to look up phone numbers, part numbers, etc. There are even apps available to pull up cow records, etc. And, no, I haven't wrecked one, or at least before my "time" on it was up.

What gets me is you could trow something at a hole that size all day and never hit it but let something drop out of you pocket and bulls eye

I agree with you coonie ,I also like what the smart phone can do. We send text messages, cause some times were you are is just too noisy to talk on the phone. And I can easy send a picture of a part to the parts guy , and he can see just exactly what I am talking about, email is handy too.

Not sure about your phone, but I broke the lens cover on mine and found out I could buy a replacement cover for $5 on the internet and it just glued on.

When my flip phone went out I just got another one the same make and model and transferred the card. The smart phone isn't for someone that works.

For years I had a TracFone, buying minutes as I needed them, but reception was poor. Then I got a Kyocera flip phone from Verizon...tough little bugger than is about the size of a cig pack, but very durable. Under $50 a month, can send/receive text/pics/vid. I"ve tried smart phones twice- my fingers are too big for texting on them, and I simply don"t get along with any touch screen! My better half has a smart phone, but when I play with it, I lose so many screens!

I just recently had to retire my old flip phone. It got to where the reception was garbled, not sure if it was the phone or the provider forcing an upgrade.

I ended up with my daughters phone she had to leave behind when she moved out (long story, not good).

I'm having to learn how to use the thing! Getting better, but a long way to go to be comfortable with it.

I am afraid it is going to get broken. It's too big to fit down in my shirt pocket, don't want to put in in my back pocket, that would surely break it. I nearly broke it today, fell out of my pocket while I was on the creeper, didn't know it was gone, nearly ran over it!

I did get a hard rubber case, and a glass screen protector, but those can only do so much.

My smart phone was run over by a tractor last June and has been banana shaped ever since but it still works.

If you have a Samsung phone, check into an "Otter Box" cover. Pretty much bullet proof. Will bounce off concrete with no screen damage.

Verizon had a Kyocera 2200 armored smart phone when I got mine- three years now, no screen cracks or damage anywhere, been dropped several times. AT&T had a similar phone that my coworker got, he has had just as good of results. I now wear retired cargo pants from my work uniform sets on the farm- the thigh pockets work better for me to carry the phone with out leaning on it or dropping it.

Mine saved me a partial trip yesterday, buying roll insulation at Home Depot, I was able to check prices and availability at the local Lowes real time, and got a better price on two rolls and one package that Lowes did not have in stock. To each his own.

That picture feature alone is worth a lot. Document stuff in the field, send a shot of something to the parts guy, the plumber, whoever.
