770 oliver hydraulic problems

I posted this before, but good people asked questions I didn't have answers for, so now I have some.1966 770 Oliver with dual hydraulic capabilities has no pressure or oil flow on either side lift or drop sides,I have been told the electrical wiring for the cylinder controls can be eliminated without affecting the the manual controls.( Question #1 is this correct ??) the tractor was on a farm feeding cattle for many years, so when I took over the farm I checked the hydraulic oil reservoir and it was 5 qts low on a 9.5 qt capacity. I have taken the foot platform cover off and with the tractor idling the shaft that runs the pump and PTO is spinning and it sounds like the hydraulic pump is spinning (question #2 could the problem be in the control valves??) (question #3 if I remove the control valve /reservoir what can I expect? the concern here is how the pump is connected to the control unit. if all discussions lead to a pump replacement how do I get it apart? I have a operators manual but no service manual, I would purchase one if I could find one. Any help or guidance would be appreciated

electrical controls can be eliminated but not necessary for manuals to work, control valves could be an issue but I think unlikely for both sides not working. service and pump replacement will be fully explained in this manual.

Ron, Try posting on the Oliver forum. My 77 had bad pump seals and oil went into the rear end. You could fill reservoir up and my pump would work. Centerplate who posts on YT mag forum had the seals I needed as well as any parts you might need. Here are a few pics of when I removed the pump. You must remove the PTO shaft from the rear to lift pump assembly off. My unit has manual control but was electric when new Centerplate also makes replacement handles to convert hydroelectric units. My 1951 Rowcrop 77 has only electric controls and they work. I hope this helps and it worked best for meto lift unit off from the left side of the tractor also if you remove the gear shift lever make sure you don't lose the springs into the trans. carefully lift gearshift lever straight off and you will see them.

Not a difficult job , I rebuilt my pump . There is a gentleman on this site who sells pump kits and he is extremely helpful . As said post on the Oliver forum and you will get help . Also I bought the digital manual very reasonably for my tablet .

How do the little rubber boots look on the manual levers? Pretty common for them to get torn or cracks then water gets in the bottom of the pump and cracks it when it freezes.

I was told they can freeze also that you can't drain enough to get the water out of the bottom. Can a guy pump it out to get the water out?
