Cattle seized near sulphur springs, tx.

Anybody near sulphur springs? This story sounds kind of weird. If there is so much property to search, how could the cattle be so bad? Maybe it is as bad as it sounds, and the guy is a real dirt bag. I have a friend who raises jersey calves, and he has had the law come out several times because passers by thought the calves "looked thin", even though the calves were on pasture with thick grass.

It happens. I know of someone who likes to use the "whatever happens, happens" approach. He wouldn't provide adequate grazing OR water for his cattle, which is why they were always out. He also would skip on fencing, using only a single strand of VERY mildly electrified barbed wire, with fence posts about every 100' to 120' or so.

He has finally gotten enough pressure from others to where he is now forced to better his operation. And even at that, he's only doing what he HAS to.

Recently some friends of ours wanted to eat in a McDonald's, and they tied their dog outside, in S central MN, it was 41 degrees out. Someone called the police because they thought the dog was being abused! This dog normally live on the Canadian border, 41 is pretty warm for it! There are nut-jobs all over!

The aspca is against all animal agriculture they don?t care about anything but shutting all of us down .

Sounds like the guy couldn?t or wouldn?t buy some hay. It?s been dry and probably lot of his land was wooded, typical of that area. Sensible cattlemen sell some off in that situation.
I?ll turn in starving horses whenever I see them in this county.

Be careful. I know someone who had retired horses pastured near a road. These horses were in their late 20 to early 30s and just like grandma, some were thin and frail, none were in an abusive situation, yet daily people called animal control. Twice a week, the owner had to have a vet out, at his own expense, to verify they were all right. At $100 a ranch call, plus examination fees, plus time taken away from his other tasks, after a couple of months of this, he had the vet put down all 12 horses. Essentially, the do gooders killed them.

I do not doubt that grazing conditions and density have many variables, but I'm only 20 miles from SP & still have plentiful grazing & pond water, although they are down several inches.

Those are some far apart fence posts. Geeze that's more work than it's worth. If I put up a fence, I want t to hold up for as little maintenance as possible. My time is more valuable to me than fence posts..

JMOR which direction. I stayed at Sulphur Springs last week end. Ate at a restaurant 4 miles south of the stock sale on 154. Think the name was Big Smiths,s Bar B Q . Have you ever been there. Sure was good eating.

We had a guy here in Livingston county arrested after they found 70 dead cows and some pigs on his farm. There are some weird folks out there.

Guys around here got tired of feeding their neighbors cattle all the time. They were always out because he never fed them and he had no fences. He was always in town sitting at the cafe drinking coffee, I know because the coffee shop was across the road from my shop. His neighbors got the cowboys together, rounded them up and hauled them to the sale barn. I think the owner was actually relieved. Several weeks later he won $300000.00 dollars in the state lottery. Go figure.

No rrlund, I am along ways from Sulphur Springs. My neighbor has bought 3 round bales for his cows and I think there were 2-3 more being delivered today as I was leaving for work.

That?s just wrong if you can?t take care of the stock
don?t Have it , that?s what give the extremists ammo
and makes us all look bad that do care about our
cattle and other animals

You know where I am. Ponds down about a foot (amazed at that). Have been feeding since late October. 1 0ct. I planted winter peas and
they have had 1.3" on them. Blackland is paying off as they are up about 3" on the tallest plants, some haven't germinated.
