Might have secured Christmas dinner

My wife and I are going to her parents for Christmas dinner this year. They're a 2 1/2 hour drive from here. Her Dad texted her a picture of a 2030 John Deere loader forsale online close to here and asked if I'd go look at it for him. I went and checked it out and called him up. The seller said he has other people interested. I told my father in law that it started in barely above freezing temperatures in 5-6 rolls not plugged in and in an unheated garage. The hydraulics worked good no leaks shifted great and the oil was black but no signs of antifreeze. Anyways he called me back awhile later asked if I'd go give him a couple hundred dollars to hold it so I did. I told my wife our Christmas dinners riding on this,if he drives all the way up here and doesn't like the tractor he won't be too happy with me lol. Anyways he picked it up this morning gave us back the deposite money and he's tickled pink. Paid $6000 (CDN) for it,rubbers decent metal all straight little rust and the buckets even solid. Could use a paint job but it's going to do some woods work on their property.

I had a 2440 which I think is the same tractor, different sheet metal. I put many thousands of hours on mine. Only problems were clutch once and rebush the front end. Great tractors. Kinda loud but I always where hear guards anyway.

He trusted you with his daughter... so judgment on tractors should be nothing :).

Hope you get a good meal!

PS- I sold my father in law a used skid steer... I was scared to death. And we had been married 18 years at the time! 3 years later, it's still good. I think he has busted everything on the farm but that loader!

my next door neighbor kept his 2030 when he sold us his farm. loader and year a round cab. it still starts as soon as it turns over. nice tractor.
