would one more post about a brand new sediment bowl leaking be too much? grrrrrrrrrrrrr, #@^%$!

No it's not too much. It is a warning however for all of us to store away all of the old sediment bowls that are still good. Old sediment bowls off of combines tend to be in better shape because they don't have as many hours on them and are away from engine heat.

last one i bought leaked at the shut off. ended up using valve grinding compound and dressing the seat on the shut off. worked pretty good. a shame you have to fix a brand new part!!

Just another example of the junk that comes from the land of the almost right. If it's leaking around the bowl I will cut a new gasket out of the cork/rubber sheet stuff you get from the auto parts store. I don't know what to do if its leaking around the packing for the needle valve. Other than tightening the packing nut that's it. The next step is to get a small ball valve and an inline fuel filter and trash the the sediment bowl set up.

You can see the leaking, but do you know what else is not working like it should? Yes, I have bought several of the sediment bowl valves; only to have them leak and added a second gasket to stop the leak. Today I discovered that the valve DOES NOT shut the fuel off.
So where do we buy one that works?

the bowl had a rubber gasket that was a little too big (almost right). I went back to TSC and got a cork gasket. then took the glass bowl and rubbed it around on some fine emery paper. put everything back together and let it sit full of fuel a few hours. seems to be OK now. we'll see.

Mine did not have a seat it was a rubber O ring that was junk. I went to HD and bought some
string that the plumers use to stop faucet leaks removed the o ring and wraped it with that string.
Has not leaked since

well for one thing these sediment bowls are not original equipment stuff. they are a cheaper line of stuff that is made in china or where ever. these things are just junk. you can go to a tractor wrecker and get a good used one and it will be better than that new potmetal garbage. a person has to know what he is buying. dont matter what u buy nowadays it is not made to last. from wrenches that bend or spread to screwdrivers that twist, even cheap engines on mini bikes and small power generators and stuff that look like they came out of a cracker jack box.

Yes! I've done that myself. Worked good for awhile, but now I need to retighten the packing nut everytime I turn the fuel on, or off. 'Course there is no actual packing. Just a flimsy little Oring.
