Pee pads for shop floor?

When our 16 year old dog's heath went down hill she started making mistakes in the house. The good thing was she was pee pad trained when she was a pup so we bought a bunch of pee pads to save the carpet. It worked but we had just bought a new batch of the things before her last trip to the vet.

Wondering if anyone ever thought of using a pee pad under a tractor or car to catch those small oil spots when working on it in the shop. I can't seem to do anything that doesn't result in some fluid release. I use an oil pan but with a pee pad and small amounts you could just wad it up and throw it in the trash.

Yep, have had them in the garage since the father in law passed 5 years ago. Had a whole case. Under tractor and park the left rear on one. Rim is rusted and leaks a small amount of chloride.

I buy the oil absorbent mats (pig mat) for
the shop/shed. Probably pretty close to the
same thing. Many of my tractors have gotten
incontinent in their old age.

Sure...now there is Absorbent and Adsorbent. Your pads are absorbent
and should work just fine. Will take a little time to work because of
the cold and viscosity but will work.

The factory I worked in used pig mat and floor dry (kitty litter) but the odd thing with using pig mat is it had to go through the proper hazmat disposal but floor dry could be swept up and put in the trash. Go figure.

You mention "kitty litter".

A long time ago, I knew some people that ran a salvage grocery/dry goods store. Sometimes they would barter whatever they had for vehicle repairs.

Once they had a pallet of damaged kitty litter bags. I got a bunch of them, dumped them in the barrel to use for oil absorb.

It worked good on oil, but get any water or antifreeze mixed with it, it turned to mud!

Slicker than green owl feathers! LOL

Just a little P.S. With oil it should be fine but those pads have a plastic liner, right? That stuff will NOT like gasoline. Just thinking.
