Looking at a Ford 961 tractor with a power steering pump that needs to be replaced or rebuilt. I have not rebuilt a power steering pump but have been told it can be done. What are the thoughts, should I rebuild or replace. Have not checked the price of rebuilt or new if it can be found. Need some guidance and thoughts. Thx. Dave

Parts needed to rebuild the PS pump are not available.

Alternatively, a 60s vintage Ford PS pump can be adapted to work. Details are available in the Ford Forum, above, where you will find multiple relevant threads.

I have a 960 NF and it is so easy
to steer that I thought the power
steering was working. Took it to a
tractor show and someone says hey
you should fix the power steering
on here! Lol. So now that's on my
to do list too. Guy at show said
it was an easy fix.

I just looked on Messick's and found the pump repair parts. I believe that the two types of pumps are mislabel though. The one on my 961 is the same as the one on my 960. On the website it shows the one like mine being later where I believe that it is earlier. I put a new seal in one of mine a few years ago, it was easy.
