hello all. I have a small 12v motor, the glue that holds the permanent magnet to the case has come loose, anyone made a repair like this? looks like it was baked on, of course, was wondering about JB weld or ??

I did that several years ago. Just make sure you arm. is not damaged and I used an expoy glue. It held for many years afterward. The motor I had cost over 400.00 new. I replaced it several times but after I exoyed it never had a problem

Yes, I have remounted those magnets using JB weld, make sure you scrape / sand all the old glue off the magnet and housing so the JB has something to stick to. JB weld = Mixture of epoxy and powered iron.

yeah, darned if I didn't think about pole position til I had already slid it out of case--I have a good print where is was, but didn't mark it end for end--may be able to tell how is was by marks in glue

Use a compass check the assembled side and then check the removed magnet-- mark it with paint . Any mag guys on here ??? I suspect that you have lost a lot of the magnetism already by disassembly---- but not entirely sure -- a mag guy would know this for sure !

I used to reglue magnets all the time. Epoxy worked best. You can reindex the magnet by the glue marks or wear marks from the armature. If the magnet fractured it will lose some of it magnetism Leave any old glue in the case and that will help keep the magnet from sliding as the epoxy hardens.
