Thanksgiving Day 1942

The Navajo talkers were very important for communications that the Japanese could not break.Thank you to all that served.Happy Thanksgiving

thanx for sharing ,,.we were truely blessed to have them work so well for us ,.. Navajo Code was a military secret for over 40 yrs ,. i read with interest all the side stories to your link ,... almost all a extreme salute to the conditions and struggles of the hu,man condition during war ,,.. save for one ,.,. the story of the brits that crash landed safely in the desert ,,promptly getting out of the plane and puncturing?? the fuel tanks to make tea!!'' good gawd ?! that was priority over sending a s-o-s ! , and now it was risky because of all the leaking fuel .. why not remove a fuel line with a wrench ??

My Dad who was under Patton in WWII, told us that for secure communications they used two men who had been raised in the same valley in Kentucky. He claimed no American could understand anything they said when they were talking to one another.

Thanks, good read. Dad was drafted in May 1943. Christmas 43 was spent in Italy, Christmas 44 was spent in France. Thanks to all veterans, I have spent all my Thanksgivings and Christmas at home.

One of the chilling things was if you are going to be caught by the enemy. ... they no, WE shoot ya. Top secret.

An English major, in a diner, overheard a couple talking in the most melodious language she'd ever heard but couldn't place it. Curious, she asked them what language they were speaking. The man answered "We from Tennessee.". True story from Readers Digest.
