Brake rotor run out

I had the rotors resurfaced on my E450. One is .004 run out, the other side is .010 run out. The spec says max .004. Will I get pedal pulsating with .010 run out? Any thoughts? New china rotors with hub attached are around 200.00 each plus shipping. Who knows if they will be much better. Stan.

What is the runout on the front face of the rotor versus the rear of the rotor? Thickness variation is what causes pulsation. Runout in itself doesn't cause pulsation, but the high spot constantly hittin the pads causes hot spotting, which causes thickness variation. I would hang new, put on tons of China rotors with nary a problem.

The rotors are exactly the same thickness all the way around, so maybe the run out isn't that big of a problem. Stan

Factory runout specs are generally on the conservative side. The .010 runout will not be a problem as long as there is no variation in the thickness. Runout will make the caliper sliders slide in and out slightly when brakes are applied, and will cause the pads to run a bit further from the rotor when brakes are not applied. When runout gets excessive, it will generally cause a soft or low pedal and sometimes a bit of a "chirping" noise at low speeds. At .010, the effect will be negligible.

You can by shims for that are index the rotor to the hub and see if that helps... I would run it and see how it runs out. Unless its machined on the truck no machining on a common stand along brake lathe will be dead nutz...

I can't use shims. The hub and rotor are one piece. I may try to set it up in my lathe. I probably can get it closer than his brake lathe. Stan

IMHO once the brakes are warmed up and cooled down several times the .010 runout will not matter.
