have a 1993 dodge pickup, cummins motor.getrag 360 trans, trans needed bearings, truck has 288,000 miles,im only owner,it does pull a gooseneck trailer.while have the trans out I pulled the clutch to have a look,it looks very good, flywheel and p-p look good, are flat to(inked them on a surface plate).how much material is on a new clutch above the rivet heads,my grooves are all visible,i have .040 above rivits on all rivits too.ive called half dozen places to purchase the disc only and they all say it only comes in a kit with p-p and throwout bearing,i cant find anyplace to reline it either.there was no problem with it,just while the trans and transfer case are down thought ide take a look,is .040 a good number ?,if not whats a new disc ??

As cheap as clutch plates are, seems like it would be a good idea to put a new one in while you have it down. That many miles must have tsken their wear on the old one. No fun to take it all down to replace clutch later.

My crystal ball tells me you replace just the clutch disk or re-line and within 1000 miles your throwout bearing will seize up. Wanted to confirm, so checked my second crystal ball. Yep, throwout bearing, but this one added broken springs in the pressure plate as well. Rare that both of them are wrong. Renew everything while you're in there. Clutches are one thing I've had a lot of personal exp with.
