USA made sediment bowl?

I replaced thebsediment bowl on an Oliver I restored last year. Today I noticed gas dripping out The packing around the valve. I went to tighten it, and realized the gas had turned the packing to jello. Anywhere to buy a quality bowl or quality packing?

I had the same thing on my Cub. I bought some plummer string I think it is called. It is like a piece of string with graphite on it. I removed the shutoff and wrapped some of this around the stem. That was 4 or 5 years ago and it has not leaked again. You just replace the packing with it

I refuse to use those on my equipment, every single one I've EVER owned has leaked, gotten "stuck" open or closed,or had some other such problem. Now I just install a hose barb, a plastic inline disposable filter and a ball valve. No regrets. Maybe sediment bowls "back in the day" were better than the new ones, IDK.

Sediment bowls are somewhat antiquated.

Their major role was water separation. Running ethanol fuel pretty much eliminates the need.

When using an inline filter though, I prefer a screen type over pleated paper for gravity systems. Not the screw together kind, the molded plastic disposable.

Seems like we should use only the old original equipment sediment bowls or not use the sediment bowl and modify it with a quarter turn valve and an inline screen like Steve suggested. The new ones are like every other new aftermarket part, they usually don't work well. Today I was browsing through an army surplus website and I saw sediment bowls, just the glass for $2.49 each. There was no dimension mentioned but they looked like the small ones that are on only the small tractors. I ordered a couple just because they are probably real old and well made.

that's what I do,,,,

(quoted from post at 17:23:38 11/05/17) graphite valve packing rope, ace hardware has it.

Some of the newer, aftermarket sediment bowl assemblies use some sort of a flimsy "O" ring affair. There is no packing, and no place to put it.
