Tough harvest this year

Bout half the beans are out and not much corn near me. This field was taken off before this last snow and rain. We got 3" of wet snow and about 2" of rain Friday night and Saturday again, so things are not getting better. It unusual how they drove right through the low spots and got stuck right on top of the hills. There are not many bad ruts in the real low spots.

Forecast looks OK the rest of the week, but the ground is saturated. I think I'll put the duals on the 2-105 Tuesday and try to pick some corn Wednesday. It's been a long time since I set the tongue way out on the picker and picked that way,but desperate times call for desperate measures.

We are having a heck of a time in southern Indiana. Every time it almost dries out another storm comes through and very few days of sunshine in the last 3 weeks. Got some beans cut early. Still have some beans and all the corn. Really hoping we can get it knocked out before any snow or Christmas

Over here on the west side of the state we got some of that snow too. Most of the beans are off. Have only seen one field that's not done just north of Alexandria yesterday. Corn harvest is well under way but still a lot left to do in our area.

Only one serious combine fire near me this year so far. Don't know the model but a CASEIH burnt to the ground about 10 days ago while harvesting corn.

If it's like the farm where I grew up, the low spots are heavy soil, the higher ground light soil. Pulled the corn picker through standing water in the low spots and didn't cut in much.

over here in alberta the weather is bad. snowed halloween night and last few days -20 C. cut a hole in dugout to water cows and ice is 4 inches thick. lots of crops left not harvested. totally nuts again this year.

Looks like things should freeze up this week. Planning to pick corn at night starting mid week. Supposed to be in the teens, so hoping it will carry a load of ear corn.

Been cold on the coast too.
Just finished Richmond farm. We had a little ice and snow.

Still another week left at my place on the island. We'll get them out yet.

I'm getting the got to go from my brother about mudding things out. I'm not sure if we could even drive across the field let alone harvest anything.
