Not exactlly a barn find as it is outside the barn. And not a find either since I've known this car in this location for most of my life. I was working near it yesterday and took this shot through the partially opened barn doors. I've had a few comments on it. I'm thinking its time to get it on wheels and move it to the home yard before any more vandalism occurs. Its a 38 Pontiac.

Looks pretty cool. If you pull it out , we want better pictures. Was it black ? Looks
like a Gangster car from the dirty thirties. You have some neat toys. Thanks for
showing us.

Its kind of a dark greenish blue, to my eyes anyway. The hood and side panels were stored in the barn and the paint looks very good. Interesting to see it has 6 bolt wheels. I don't know the whole history of the car but think my uncle bought it as a parts car but I could be wrong. Most of the engine is gone. I've got some video of it from yesterday. Maybe another youtube edition?

My first car, confiscated from it's retirement home behind my father's barn, was a 47 Pontiac.

It too had 6 lug wheels.

FWIW, Pontiac developed the column shift, and it was a Pontiac exclusive for a couple of years before GM applied it to other GM cars.

I didn't know that about the column shift. Interesting to find that the wheels from a late 60s C10 pickup will fit the Pontiac. Handy if I get around to moving the car as it has no wheels left on it.
