Cub f model, how to break loose engine

Hope someone can tell me if there is a particular pressure point on the cub f model to pry on to work the engine loose, can see a place to pry on the enclosed flywheel housing. Do I have to pull the radiator and pulley and put a crank socket on it?

Why not use the starter?? A starter is made in such a way that it will not harm much if any thing as long as you use short fast taps on the starter button. I have freed up a good many by filling the cylinders with ATF and letting it sit a few days then I use a 12 volt battery and short fast taps on the starter to free them up

If the comment by Old doesn't work, I'd try and put the transmission in gear and try to rock the tractor back and forth. I've had good luck with this. A good soaking for a couple of days with ATF will help also. This will also help if the clutch is rusted fast. Good Luck

Go with what mitman says, jack up one wheel and use it like a giant
flywheel. You don't want to slam it back and forth you want to kinda
grab it and jump on one side and then back the other way. ATF works
wonders and leave the plugs out till you free the engine. Another
thing to try that sounds crazy but it works. After you soak the engine
a few days get hold of a compression tester. Take the hose and screw
on an airhose fitting. Screw it into number one or two then three and
four. You should find on of them has a closed set of valves. Stick
125 pounds of air to that cylinder. Have "Popped" two engines loose
doing that.

You'd be smart to pull the head and see what it looks like on top of the cylinders and if everything looks OK use a good penetrating oil to loosen things up and then take a round of wood about the same size as the pistons, place it on top of the pistons and tap the wood with a hammer to jar things loose.A little extra time and effort can save you a bunch of trouble and money in the long run.

Will certainly go slow, thought about pulling the starter and prying gently on the flywheel with a long prybar after I posted previously. Don't care to break any rings, lands, or teeth I don't have to. Read the best "break loose" penetrating oil was 50/50 mix of AT fluid and acetone. will try that, letting it set for a week in cold nights/warm days. Thanks all.

Well, I have got three of the four unlocked. the serials are 201966, 101764 180375, and 45149. I am having the worse luck with the last one because it has a funny domed piston. anybody know anything about these. don't want to ruin them if they are rare.

Since I originally posted, I have broken loose three of the four cubs. One is going to take a drill out to remove the one stuck piston. It is the oldest by the serial number I guess, as it is the shortest serial number, but strangely the best condition.

I have also managed to break loose a case 941c, an IH 350, and a case 34-15 ditchwitch Wisconsin engine. My formula is 1/2 ATF, 1/4 acetone, and 1/4 mineral spirits well shaken in a gallon jug. I let sit for three or four days before prying. I am prying through the starter holes with one of those old hard as hell bed rails, and I pry gently, and do not push any more than about 25 pounds of pressure, which of course would really be a lot at the end of the rail, but not enough to break anything. When it quits moving, I back it off and let it soak some more. I pry at 6 am, when the engine is the coldest, and 6 pm when the engine is the warmest. Hope this helps someone else later on down the line.
