I have been doing this 2 1/2 acre field for years. Never a problem. Now I get a call from the owner saying the fire dept wants it done over. I called The fire inspector Ilene (potential Problem) My last boss was a woman. One of The best bosses I had at my factory job. I could nor reason with this lady. It was her way or nothing. If the weeds are 6 inches or less thick cut 2 inches above the ground, that's good. The weeds may be a little high because of small rocks, I raised my mower a few inches, but the weeds are down and no fire hazard. Looks like I will be doing it over. I don't mind now I am not very busy. Just a little diesel. Stan

I remember when discing was required for fire protection. Then the pansies decided mowing was more politically correct. You should tell them you will disc it and charge twice as much.

I would like disc it, but I put my chevy flat bed up for the winter, I use for hauling the tractor and disc. I took the license off, and insurance off. I will reactivate it next March. Stan

Morning: I just have to ask what this inspector means by...If the weeds are 6 inches or less thick cut 2 inches above the ground, that's good.
SO...what if the weeds were higher than 6 inches?

I think I would put on a set of sharpened old blades if you have them if you hit a few rocks it won't matter.

I like the tilling idea. I had a big area and did that one year. 72 inch tiller every 6 weeks. It got real easy to run the tiller about the third time.

we do too,got her last spring, I haven't noticed much of a change except the opposition isn't as willing to criticize her, they might be afraid to be seen as picking on a women.
